On Work to begin next week on $4.2 million YMCA facility in Milton

I would like to know why it is called the "Parker YMCA?" Why not a name that is appropriate to the Milton community? Something like Goodrich? Parkview? Sunrise (being that it is on the east side of Milton?) Crandall (Henry Beebe?) Red Hawk? Milton YMCA? In my mind the name 'Parker' too closely identifies the facility with Janesville and fails to give the new location an identity that the Milton community can embrace. Just a spit ball thought for the day. Any thoughts from you?

You have got to be kidding me? These types of trucks are common in the Metro areas. It's NOT a new concept folks. And quite frankly Los Agaves has great food both in the Whitewater truck and at the Delavan restaurant. The people are clean, kind, and caring. They value and pride themselves on customer service. And again, the food is GOOD! Authentic.

With that being said I send an open challenge to the restaurants in Milton (and my home town I must admit): Step it up. If your service and quality of food was half of what it was with Los Agaves we wouldn't be having this conversation. Welcome Los Agaves and I sincerely hope you profit as a small business in Milton!

Remember it was less than 25 years ago Milton was having an argument about whether or not a Hardee's would fit the Milton landscape...

On Should Milton’s elected officials get pay raise?

In my mind, they shouldn't be paid at all. What happen when a position like the mayor or as a city council member was called civic responsibility? Or perhaps civic duty? Or even civic pride?

“Prison inmates get paid more than we do..”

And they shouldn't be paid either in my humble opinion. They are inmates. Incarcerated for a crime they committed. Why in the heck are inmates paid? Are you kidding me? Seems to me that a state or federal budget could be better balanced if inmates were not paid. But again, that's just another opinion and another can of worms.

On Training offered for storm spotting

Is this in conjunction with the National Weather Service's class?

Typically the NWS class is also taught by Meteorologist Rusty Kapella out the the NWS Sullivan office. If anyone knows whether this session is sanctioned by NWS, your input is appreciated.

Glad to see motors are up for use again this year. I wished they would have had a decent bid from Victory, Kawasaki, or Honda. Love the new Kawasaki Enforcer. Check out this video at the Annual Las Vegas Motor Rodeo

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ii7y7SxY... .

And no, he's not suppose to drop his foot or the cones.

The new Kawasaki Enforcer 1400 has the best rake and mobility of any motor unit today including the BMW RTP.

The California Highway Patrol has just ordered that all BMW motors in its' fleet be phased out and replaced with the Kawasaki over the next 3 years.

The CHP has been working with and testing the new Kawasaki over the last 2 years. And not 1 HD in its' fleet. That must say something...

On Downtown Janesville parking lot stranded

I guess I don't see what the big deal is. The guy puts up a barricade on the part of the property he owns. Not his fault the COJ closed off the curb easement. He doesn't want to plow or clean up what he's not using. Can't blame him for that. I wouldn't either. And he's probably saving a ton of money on insurance on a parking lot he's not using. I'm wondering if the COJ is willing to take on liability insurance, fix the lot, and pay HUGE dollars to plow the lot in the winter? Just curious and thanks!

On Janesville business owners question assessment increases

$11 per square foot in down town Janesville? You HAVE GOT to be kidding me. Our company just opened a brand new location in Melrose Park, Il (a little west of Chicago off of the 290.) It has rail access, with a building that is less than 5 years old. The building sat almost 4 years empty, yet BRAND NEW. No Tenants. Excellent traffic flow. The owners built brand new office space with break room, bathrooms, and extra plumbing. We signed a five year deal for $1.75 a square foot. It maxes out at $3.98 per square foot at the end of 5 years.

And governments wonder why businesses are leaving Wisconsin? Proof positive above I'd say. There was NO WAY I could have got that kind of rate in Southern Wi, and it was ideally where we wanted to be. Taxes and utilities were about 43% less in Melrose as well.

Wisconsin is just plain ole pricing itself out of business.

On Milton stands firm on beer-sale curfew

On Tuesday, Chesmore chastised Shaikh for complaining to the media, accusing Shaikh of calling city officials "corrupt."

Well, quite frankly a lot of them are. And especially in Milton. It's the 'Good Ole Boy Club' in Milton. Shaikh has the right under the 1st Ammendment to openly voice his opinion to whom ever will listen. Whether I agree with him or not, it is his right.

And yes, they are corrupt in my mind. For all intensive purposes, the City of Milton did single him out. After all, bars can sell take out beer in Milton until midnight. Does this make it an 'unsafe community?' Shaikh has a descrimination law suit here, and it will be a big one if the ACLU gets involved or gets wind of it.

On the topic of carry out sales:

A C store owner or counter employee in a C store has a better chance of seeing whether or not someone is impaired before the beer sale is made, and can stop the sale. A lot of (and not all mind you) bar tenders are drinking on the job where good judgement is impaired.

Will they be the one to cut someone off who wants a beer carry out? Food for thought!

Thanks for letting me rant!
