On Beloit teen killed in shooting

I live in Beloit and the old saying "Don't judge a book by it's cover" comes to mind right now. Beloit really it's as bad as people think. The City has worked very hard to make it a safe place to live. Yes there are areas of town the you might want to stay out of, but that is the some of the people in those areas the cause the problems, there are people in those areas the work hard for a living and a small group of them do nothing and those are the people that are causing the problems. I hear more news like this coming out of Madison and the rest of the USA. So saying the "It's Beloit what do you expected" is a bad statement....People in glass house shoundn't throw stones. I am getting really tired of people make statements before they have all the facts. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the young girl that was killed and I hope that her killer or killers are brought to justice.

I guess some of you didn't really read the story, most of the items were donated, and you would find those items in a full time fire station too. My brother is a Madison Fire Fighter, and they have a weight room too. I figure that these people put their life on the line to help us, then they should have a new building to do it in. Evansville was not the only city the this help Brooklyn,Footville etc. But those of you that like to make dumb comments just remember that if we didn't have Fire Dept here your house would burn down by the time some other Department would get here.

I gues some people in Evansville want to look at the weeds and trees that are growing in what use to be the lake, I grew up here and that lake has always been a attraction for people coming to Evansville, mostly around the 4th of July, but I guess there are a few people that don't want any money coming in to the city.

Is it really worth it, now she will have to go to jail and most likely have to pay the money back. As for the company owner, why would you hire someone that was recommended by the person you fired for using the Company Credit Card. Can you say DUH!!!

As a City of Evansville employee I had the pleasure of working with Art for 9yrs. Before that I have known Art since I was a kid, when my mom worked as a police dispatcher for the City before they went 911. We here at City Hall are deeply sadden by his passing.I for one will missed his cheerful "Hello Ladies" every time he was at city hall. He will be greatly missed by all of us.

Dear Commonsence-As I said before I was a student at Evansville High School, and nothing has changed as far as the sports at that school. It is the most important thing. As for going to a school board meeting it's always been full of puppets and "good old boys" and nothing gets done about any serious issue, I lived in Evansville from the time I as 15 until I was about 34 years old, so I do think I know what I'm talking about. Something needs to be done and it's about time that someone stands up and says so. I also have read all of these comments and I don't feel like they are being petty, and I am not afraid to stand and stay something when somethings wrong, I am not hiding behind a different name. This is why the paper puts these blogs on here for adults to share what they think. I just wish that more former students would right in. I know that there are a lot of them that would agree.

I went to EHS 21 years ago and it was the same on and off the field. Grovesteen was my drivers ed teacher and a bad one at that. He did not like girls and girls sports. To him we were second class, and he made no bones about it. My brother also player football for him, there were a few times when would yelled and even push the players around. I think that the point of all this is being missed. The girl was not being treated fairly. Why did she have to find someone to open up the locker room, when all one of the adult coaches could have made arangements to have the locker room open before school even got out. That is pretty simple if you ask me. All she wanted to do was play football and she took everything the adult coaches give to her, comments and all. If any other kids had come out not waring pads, they would have to go home, but I think it was all done on intentionly to get her off the team. And of course none on the other players said anything, Grovesteen puts the fear of god into them. I hope that the family get a boat load of money and really nails the coaches and the school district to the wall. Take it from a former EHS alm, nothing ever changes, same old double standered.

Sandman, why do feel that you need to know the person's name and information. You were told about the death and that it was H1N1 what more do you think you need to know. Have some respect for the family
