On Changes to add academic rigor in high schools would begin in 2014

dtb this is the information that was given at the meeting Weds. evening. And yes the the high schools do care that students have jobs...because they realize how many kids work these days--not for their own benefit but also to help their families with expenses.

You know, athletics was not the only consideration for not adding the minutes to the end of the day. They also were thinking of the kids that have to work--many of them starting work at 3:30 or 3:45, and also the kids that participate in the CO-OP classes. Stop making it such a crime that kids are in sports....

Maybe I need clarification...but what about the existing high school student (including the incoming freshmen this next school year 2013-14)? Won't they be short the required credits?

On Janesville high school students to have longer days

How does an extra 10-20 minutes create another whole class period? Taking away time from lunch periods? So now they have to eat in what 30 seconds?

Beloit Health System has done this also...would much rather take the shot than have to wear a mask all the time!

On Humane society took in fewer animals in 2011

you know...if people would just take of their animals from the beginning (spay & neuter for example) and stop letting them run loose for everyone else to take care of maybe these problems wouldn't exist...don't blame the humane society!

On Why is your dog (or cat) loose?

Posted on January 20 at 1:15 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

I have been in the position you were in Greg...but with a different outcome. About a year and a half ago I was out taking my dog for a walk...about two blocks from my home...same route we had been walking many times. I remember seeing a black blur come bolting out of a garage...the dog (pit bull mix) charged my dog (medium size mix) and basically attacked him...while trying to save my dog the pit bull turned his attention to me...needless to say numerous stitches...multiple surgeries (1 for my dog and 3 for my nerve damaged arm/hand). Thankfully two neighbors came to my aid...while the dog's owner sat inside completely unaware that his dog left the garage. I am relieved to say that the pit bull was put down within days...but of course the owner is still fighting in court over my medical bills...so everyon posting on here and giving Greg grief about overeacting...think again.

On Does Beloit casino merit support?

funny how they don't support this casino because of the problems it may bring to the habitual gamblers and their families....hmmm but yet not a word is said when someone wants to open a new bar and the problems it would bring to the alcoholics and their families.
