On Should the Janesville School District charge higher fees for sports with higher costs?

Posted on September 1 at 2:27 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

Here we go again! People are entitled to this, people are entitled to that. Sorry folks! You are not entitled to anything in this world, you earn it! And as I've said before, I don't mind paying for education, but I do mind paying for sports! Sports should have nothing to do with schools. That should be an after school activity. Yes, there is recess and gym where kids can get their daily excercise. Pretty soon we are going to have to clothe all the kids who go to school with our tax money.

Goes to show you how Christian they are and how much they care about us!

On More and more Wisconsinities are taking the train

I don't know how much Amtrak is, but I usually go to Harvard, IL and catch Metrarail. Weekend unlimited pass is $5.00. They should look into extending the metrarail into southern wisconsin. Probably alot cheaper than Amtrak.

I lived in southern Arizona for 10 years. We ran into this issue with Santa Cruz County. There were alot of family members working for the county and you run into alot of trouble with people not being qualified for their positions and alot of corruption. It may start with not being administrative or managerial, but can change down the road. If we allow this now, it can get worse. Our city government already doesn't listen to the citizens.

On Working poor still struggle

The problem with this country is we give too much to support others that should be trying to make it on their own. When my Mom and Dad came to this country, my Dad worked aprox 16 hours a day, 7 days a week and started his own business that way. What is the problem with others trying to do the same instead of depending on the government to give them everything.

laughwulive: Can you tell me where those $25 to $30 jobs are at here in Janesville? I'm sure alot of people would like to know.
villajanesville: Not everone who worked at GM, Lear, etc. owned big SUV's or boats or spent their money foolishly. And usually people who have worked their for 20 to 30 years are more work oriented than the young ones. Not saying that there aren't younger people who are hard working people, just that from what I have seen, a large portion of the young workers know how to use the system. There are some that do work hard for their money. And I am sure that there are some of the older folks that don't like to work either. Also, the ones that bash these workers who make more, are the ones that are jealous because they aren't making that kind of money!

ktaustin: Good comment on taxing alcohol. But wait! What will the people do if they can't drink while watching or going to sports events??? Heaven forbid that they can't have their beer because they can't afford it anymore because of taxes. The government needs to realize that liquor is just as dangerous if not more so because of people driving drunk, destroying families, becoming mean when they drink, etc.

The problem with this issue, is that if your Democrat, you have to be liberal on the subject. I think that this kind of mentality is totally wrong. Why can't you be a Democrat and express your true feelings on the subject of abortion. I am a Democrat, but I am against the issue of abortion rights. No one has the right to kill another human being. And don't try to make it right by saying that the fetus does not have human characteristics yet.
That BS does not fly with me. It's just another tactic to make something that is totally wrong ok to do.

On City plays waiting game with manager finalists

By "we hope to find one that fits" comment, what exactly does Amy Loasching mean? We need new blood for the city manager, not the same that we have been dealing with for years. We need someone who will stand behind the citizens.
