On GM official says cash could run out by March 31

Well, 6% seems rather low to me, but I also believe that the GM ceo's and other higher payed people, should ALSO take a cut. They may not be union workers, but their wages are OFF the charts. There wages should be cut too. (even with a cut would be ABOVE the average american wage) But, they also have the POWER, so why would they volantarly take a cut in wage. That too, has much to do with GM's money problems.

I worked at GM as summer help. I could have stayed on for several months, $1000.00 a week, as temp help. It MAY have lead to a full time job, but I was offered another in Health care. I took the offer. I saw THEN that GM was not going to make it much farther. I believe the UAW (which I payed FULL dues to, without ALL the benifits or wages)screwed the workers. They are a business too. They are out to make money, NOT protect the worker. There WAS a TIME for unions, ONCE. When workers were getting injured, or Dying on there jobs, for LITTLE pay. NOW, there are LAWS in place to prevent that from happining. I think all the UAW's agenda, is to get outrageous salary for the average employee( who does, not much more than push a button,) so they can collect there dues! The average GM employee, makes 2 times (or more) the salary I do now, so, OFCOURSE they charge more for there autos. But I, making an AVERAGE wage, can not afford those autos,(but the GM worker can). When I buy a new car I look at QAULITY and COST. It seems that the foriegn auto maker, BEATS, GM hands down. They do not pay there employees,ABOVE average wages. (I am sure they are still good wages, but NOT what union workers make)I would LOVE to buy American made, but, having an average American wage, I can not afford it! Maybe if the Unions would CUT back on soome of there demands, GM and other American auto makers, would be competative in todays market!

I play these machines when I am out. They are fun, and I have won more from the bars, than I have ever won in a casino, and I spent ALOT less money on the bar machines. If people choose to gamble that is their right. No one is forcing anyone to do it. Id they were made legal, they would pay out MUCH less, because Uncle Sam would have to get his cut first.

Good bye, spacejam. I hope you can find a place that is NOT effected by the NATIONAL economy. I have lived in WI, ALL my life, and I have been to 42 states, I will choose WI everytime. More beauty, cleaner, and most people are nicer than anyone I met in other states.
Good luck to you.

On Democrats reignite discussion of Wis. smoking ban

I feel like "Big Brother" is watching me. I realize that everyone, smokers and non alike, have rights. It seems that the smokers rights are being suppressed. I am a smoker, so maybe that makes me byassed in some peoples eyes. I was a NON smoker for most of my life, but my parents smoked. I understand not wanting to be around smoke, But I know many non smokers, who smoke when they go out. I do not feel bars should ban smoking. It should be the owners choice. Non smokers have the right to NOT go into a smoking bar. My fear is once they have the smokers "CONTROLLED" who will they go after next... the obese, the diabetics, the occsional drinker. Where does it end, when government gets to decide what is right and wrong, DESPITE what the Constitution says.

Do most people realize it is an election year! It seems to me, every election year, I have seen, has the economy in DIRE straights! I am a single mom, with only one (small) income, and 2 kids. I feel the effects of this "recession" as much as anyone. But do our ELECTED officials, really care about the EFFECTS on the American people, or, on WHO is coming into power, and WHO is going out!

I know Brad, he is a hard working, nice guy. He was volunteer at this place. I move things on a regular basis for, my job. When using a 2 wheeler, generally it is easier to back it onto an elevator. How many people can say they HONESTLY look at an elevator before entering. It is SUPPOSED to be there! When you are hauling some kind of frieght, usually one backs in. Brad lost a LOT of time from work because of his injuries. (and he is not one to miss work) He also has a family to support. Would ANYONE of you NOT want FAIR compensation for your lost wages, and suffering. I do not believe Brad is looking for a FREE ride, he just wants what he lost! There is a difference between those who try to BILK the system, and those who honestly have the right to FAIR compensation! Unfortunatly, there are MANY in our society who are looking for the POT OF GOLD, that they really do not deserve! That makes it worse on anyone who has a REAL issue!

I know the boy who is now fighting for his life. He reminded me of my son in many ways. I spoke to my son about this tragic event. His response was "well that was just a stupid thing to be doing!" A good response, but I told him, sometimes kids think 'they are invincable, they can not get hurt.' It only takes 1 moment of bad judgement, accompanied by peer pressure, and your life can change forever, or be over. in this case 2 young lives have been changed forever. I really hope teens will learn a valuable lesson from this tragedy. It may save a few lives.
