On No payment in Evansville suit

Thank goodness this has finally come to a conclusion. It was a case with no merit from the beginning. The State Journal article was probably written quickly and just lifted statements from the original charges. The author didn't investigate, just slanted it. The Gazette article was the correct one. The sad part to me was that the plaintiff didn't have to pay the lawyer fees for both sides. I also think it should have been pointed out in the Gazette article that the woman is an employee of our district. She is a bitter person who tried to capitalize on a child's injury. Luckily she was shown that she was wrong to have sued the district and the coach. Evansville should be proud of Coach Grovesteen for the many years he has given to sports and hopefully many more!! All of the people that complain are usually people who complain about everything. Nothing makes you happy. Anway, case closed! The district and Grovesteen won. Deb Elborough should be ashamed of herself for suing the district she works in. Glad my kids never had her!!

It is the same old story.......people think that if kids are old enough to fight for our country they should be old enough to drink. Well, it is against the law to drink at l8. It is not against the law to join the military. If you don't think your child is old enough or mature enough try to talk him out of going in the service that young. There isn't a draft anymore!! Would you let your child shoplift? break into homes and steal? beat up people? No, those are against the law. Well, so is underage drinking. Parents need to tell their children they will be punished if drinking....if they are athletes the parents should turn them in. We need to teach our kids the life values and the need to follow rules and laws. I get so sick of the parents who say they let them drink at home because they won't be driving.....and most of those parents are letting kids that aren't theirs drive away. Ridiculous! Parents need to be responsible and raise responsible young adults. AND the police should do more ticketing of underage drinkers.
On Can a Hooters girl coach Janesville high school poms?

I do believe that the principal and athletic director perhaps didn't handle the situation well but we do not know the reasons they chose not to hire her. Anyone that works with employment knows you have to be so very careful with wording. I believe that the situation is way out of control and she should not be hired now anyway. Jenni went too far by going to the newspaper and not the school board first. I also think that all the lawsuit threats or encouragement are just another sick indication of "if you lose, sue someone". I have raised responsible adults and they have learned you don't always get the job you want. As a parent I would not have wanted a coach of any kind to have so much influence over my child. I want them to be responsible, teach fair play, hard work, etc but do not want them to be a best friend to my child. They are a leader, role model not someone to tell your most secrets to. It is also unfair to the other candidate. Just because the girls "love" Jenni doesn't mean the other one isn't qualified also. Many commented they couldn't like another coach. It is time for the parents to tell the kids they may have to accept a new coach instead of sounding like it is the end of a pom program. I don't believe Hooters is the only issue. Any honest job should be considered acceptable. I believe from some of the posts that perhaps the squad is performing a little too sexually......which would not have anything to do with her job so much as her style of coaching. Perhaps the other candidate will go back to a cleaner, less sexy look. Seems to me a bad situation right now will only be worse if a bunch of girls and their parents can decide who will be their coach. There are hiring practices and rules for a reason.
On Supporters turn out for Larson Acres

I think the first paragraph of the article is poorly written and reported!! It is true that many times when people speak up in support of something they have a vested interest. It doesn't mean that is their only reason for supporting the project. The author's statements try to infer that the speakers are only supporting the expansion because it benefits them. Sometimes people support the expansion because it is the right thing to do. Larson Acres has followed all the rules and is a fine farm. People cannot seem to get over being jealous of success. Grow up people and let them expand without controversy.....especially in these difficult times. They are pumping money into our local economy.
On 22 snakes found in Janesville apartment

I think it is highly unprofessional of the police to have the snake owners dispose of them. We don't know where they will do that, do we??? It is terribly frightening to think they can get rid of them anywhere and the danger they can reap. Will the police let us know when and where they went. Also, how many more will be born from the 20 snakes? This is very scary and it disappoints me in the Janesville police. Were they afraid? If so, think about how the rest of us feel. Not a good story to read. Gazette, please keep us posted on this story.

I think all of you bloggers who are fighting with each other and saying cruel things should be ashamed of yourselves!! This story is not about you. It is about a woman who unselfishly turned over her baby to authorities so he/she could have a better life. We do not know her circumstances so just be respectful of the situation. If you all have so much time on your hands why don't you spend it wisely by perhaps learning to spell, to have better grammar and better typing.
On GM offers buyout to laid-off workers

Wow, like I said.............whine, whine, whine!!! John Doe, if I just like to hear myself spout off you would see me in print daily and that is just not true. I could have
gone on and on about CEO's and other items but this blog was about the plant. It is shameful that they are taking bailout money and then buying off workers for big bucks. Time for GM to come into the real world.

My husband and I have always driven GM cars and
SUV's but NO MORE!!! The economy is terrible and the autoworkers make little or no concessions. When I read that $2000 off the top of the new car price goes to retirement and health benefits that was the end!!! What is the difference between a puppy and a GM worker? Eventually the puppy quits whining!!!

Many of the claims against Coach Grovesteen were false. Treats aren't given in the locker rooms. They are given out in the hallway, right next to the schedules. If Grovesteen did have a key to the girls locker room, THAT would be speculated. Grovesteen insists everyone has relatively short hair because it is a safety issue. Long hair and facial hair can cause the helmet to slip and slide around. Wah wah wah, push-ups for punishment? He makes you do 5. 10 tops. And Grovesteen being a bully? Last time I checked, coaches aren't necesarily there to hold your hand. They are there to whip you into shape, and teach you discipline on and off the field. He may be gruff, but he is a great coach, and when he leaves it will be his decision, not a bunch of cry babies. We have a great coaching staff, and to get rid of all of them because of a weak cry for 50 grand would be a joke.

Queen Bee........I don't believe I am in the minority. I stand by my statement that people who write so many negative blogs are just unhappy people who complain about everything. We who support Grovesteen and the district because it was a stupid lawsuit don't blog as much because we are positive supporters, not naysayers like you.
