On Janesville parks remain off-limits to dogs in summer

Posted on April 23 at 7:36 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

Since a resident took pictures of fresh dog feces and decided to send it to council members im going to take pictures of bicycles and trash from kids in the dog parks to send it in to get non dog owners banned from the dog parks.....dogless people destroy the dog parks but the city council doesnt care about that....well they can be prepared for plenty of pictures. If anyone else uses the palmer park trainging area i advise you to do the same. People complain about dog owners but they think they can do want they want.

On Police: Better reporting responsible for rise in Janesville violent crime rate

Checkdafacts- just fyi county doesnt handle any severe crimes in janesville only the ones that stem from traffic offenses i believe. They will back up jpd if they need it but not handle the citys calls. Also if you read some of the recent posted articles theres been alot of rcso due to state grants for traffic grants amd drug grants from the states.

On Janesville City Council delays decision on parks' summertime dogs ban

JoyM - I feel the same way about kids. I dont have any so I dont want to hear them screamng because they arent getting their way or running around misbehaving. Not all kids are like this and neither are all dogs like you describe. It all comes down to responsible dog owners. Reading the comments on hear it seems everyone thinks every dog owner is junk. That is not the truth. Most dog owners are responsible. But you are going to have irresponsible dog owners not picking up after their dogs. You could compare it to irresponsible people who litter in the park. Thats illegal and people still do it. But like I stated in my previous post dogs shouldnt be allowed on the walking/bike trails because that would cause a problem.

Bassinthumb- you have never been in the dog park in palmer park then have you? You say you should ride your bike i there. Kids already do everyday. My dogs and others have almost been hit by kids recklessly flying through the dark park doing "tricks," even though its posted no bikes. So really it goes both ways right now. Theres also a spot in the dog park kids go to party i that park and leave trash and junk there. With this issue though i agree dogs shouldnt be on the bile trail but i would like to take my dogs to the park if i was having a picnic or a family get together. But in the grand sceme of things if the police dept was able to inforce the not picking up after your dog law or the bikes not i the dog parks law alot of the issues wouldnt be issues.

On Janesville City Council referendums get a 'no'

Mritalian before you go spouting off about reducing the police force maybe you should do a ride along and ask our current police force how much ot each officer does each week. Our police force is understaffed as it is. Adding someone who writes parking tickets isnt a bad idea but not if you plan on cutting actual officers

Alot of Law enforcement agencies are getting their health plans raised at extreme levels due to wording in act 10. The agencies are saying due to wording they can raise health plans without bargining. Some agencies have doubled and almost tripled deductables and the like. There is several lawsuits from different agencies in the courts right now. Also alot of agenices are making the newer officers pay their full pension even though act 10 says LEO's are exempt.

I like the people on here saying,"No new taxes" or "I can't afford anymore taxes." I will tell you like many of you told union employees the past few year.....you must be spending outside of your means and need to cut spending. Also you are making DD sound like a hero for saying she can't afford new taxes. She must have a personal spending problem if she can't afford a few dollars more a month for taxes. You also bash Mr. Liebert for "living at home,""Working part time," and "Not paying taxes." NEWS FLASH: Mr. Liebert does not live at home, Has a full load for school and Works 2 jobs. I don't know about any of you but when I was going to school I didn't pay much for taxes either. If any of you actually knew him rather or took time to ask him questions you would know hes a good person who likes to help others out. I agree with some of you that spending does need to be cut from some were but not from police and fire. Unfortumtaly taxes need to be raised also. If we cut alittle spending and taxes are raised slightly this city would be fine. Also those stating they don't want to pay more taxes, you realize Janesville has some of the lowest property taxes in the state with comparable cities right? I know people who pay double my property taxes in similar size cities. So I say I would have liked to vote on the referendum and those council members who said "No" proved they don't trust me to help decide my city and will never receive a vote again from me.

Actually, no he didn't work on Obama's campaign this time. One of his jobs is at a Business started right here in Janesville. And what does it matter if he worked for Obama this time or the first time?

On Janesville councilmen want to raise $2.5 million for public safety, streets

Really Kealy is what this city needs? Pretty sure in an earlier article and this article Kealy hints at he thinks public service jobs like Police and Fire need to have their budgets looked at and some cuts can be made....Yes Mr. Kealy lets keep this city "nice" by making cuts to two positions that actually care about the city and give their lives for it. Police and Fire comparable to other jobs don't make enough with the risk and the stress they put on themselves. I agree we need to make some cuts and less spending but there is no way to save as much as we need to by doing just one. I hate the thought of raising taxes also, but unfortunatly it has to be done. If taxes are raised and spending is cut this city could do whatever we wanted to. Its not that one person needs to be removed, its the fact the council has a whole has to work together and not have personal agenda's.

Frank you most likely dont know this or care because you sit behind your computer and like to bash others. Sam Liebert actually has 2 jobs currently and is finishing his college degree. That doesnt sound like sitting on his butt doing nothing. Plus add being a member on the city council as well as on several commities for the council. You should really do your research before attacking someone elses work ethic!
