On Our foundering father: At least we’re entertained as we try not to notice that no one’s in charge

it is kind of funny the way the whole obama thing is turning around. He was almost given God-like fanfare as he was elected. That surely seems to be changing quickly. The problem was/is this. It didnt matter who was elected. It didnt matter who was the LAST president. The problem is our government and its structure. It is a two party exclusive governement that has gone bad. It is time to make huge changes in our political structure. The Governement is no longer "by the people for the people" but rather "by the party for the party." too much governement, term limits and salary caps for public servants....caps on campaign funds... abolishment of the two major political parties as they have become monopolies and let lose the lobbyists. Let the busines' that go under, go. The bailouts are a farce. If my business has problems no one is here to help me why should they get special attention. The problems with our country is based on the swindling of the american people by our own governement. Time to wake up and find real solutions!

no, all bailouts are wrong, bad, and anti-American in my book. They are all worthy of outrage! My tax money is being wasted by our current form of crooked government.

Justsome1here- Sports figures and corporate “bonus reaping” folks are overpaid to a point of stupidity. Your comments make you sound like you don’t have a priority in investing in our future or our children’s. I feel for you, moreover, your children. You are part of the problem.

Thediplomat- Your opinion that “they knew what they were getting into” is offensive and all together wrong. You are a large part of the problem, and a large one here in our community. You do not get the value of education and the desire for good parents to want quality education and the best for their kids. I feel really sorry for you and your children. You are selfish and do not understand the VALUE of you educators.

Shagcarpet you are comparing apples and oranges. Perhaps there is another thread you can hijack.

MOCO represents those of us who do “get it” and is 100% correct in this thread.

YICare… right on!

I am in my forties and have a successful business, no mortgage, and no debt. I chose to return to college for my second and third degrees in education. This is to make a positive difference and contribution in society by teaching. It is too bad that there are people who need to scrutinize the most important aspect of our society’s future. Shame on you.

MOCO, in my opinion your last post may be the most intelligent one on this thread!

. . . so many posts from blissful people. Teachers make our future and our children's future. Many of your posts reflect a blissful (read into it-ignorant) life where priority is so selfishly misplaced that you seem to overlook the future for our city and children. My kids deserve the best education money can buy. Our city's children deserve a future outside of the boo-who-for-me factory attitude that seems to dominate these forums. The answer to our city's problems and economy is in education. Wake up! or please move so you don't stand in the way of change and progress. Educators should not have any seniority within the district. They should be judged upon their ability and paid accordingly. Teachers, both good and bad, impact people lives forever. Let them earn what they deserve individually.

In answer to someones question, I have math degree and am getting certified to teach math k-12.

I think religion is big business. It is hypocritical then to the moral and ethical values it preaches. There is that book in another thread for example. Dont read or own it because you will go to hell.... please. Words are words. Facts are proved facts and belief in something non factual with so much of a persons core is silly.
While I am a zappa fan, and i can think of many quotes from him on religion, my point was they would be taken just as i take those from bible belters who need to quote a fiction book as proof of its validity.
ok, a couple . . . hehe

"Remember there a big difference between kneeling down and bending over"

"The essence of Christianity is told to us in the Garden of Eden history. The fruit that was forbidden was on the Tree of Knowledge. The subtext is, All the suffering you have is because you wanted to find out what was going on. You could be in the Garden of Eden if you had just kept your f'ing mouth shut and hadn't asked any questions."

“The only difference between a cult and a religion is the amount of real estate they own”

. . . . . and your point is? You CAN use your own words to express your point, can't you? (sarcasm--->)I will try not to quote various sources of text like government documents or negatively rated music lyrics written by Frank Zappa to define my points .....if you could only do the same please.

aletheia,
your righteous dribble reminds me of marketed TV religion. I hope you have gotten your money's worth from whatever faith you "worship." Religion is for those weak individuals who need an explanation, scapegoat, and crutch for life and the things they cant understand. It is the best selling book on earth... SELLING! It is big business that rivals a world economy. It is fiction. 1000 years from now people like you may find a transcript of a steven king novel and profess that it is "gospel" Your blinders and those of others need adjusting.

"Aside from the obvious benefits, strengthening our spiritual fitness can have the added benefits of improving our relationships with others, improving our own mental health and making those Sunday trips to church more of a joy and less of a dutiful burden."

...not to mention blessing the church with tidings from your bank account, no wait, i mean the church will rid you of the evils of your bank account
