On One killed in crash at 11 and 213

Posted on October 29 at 3:30 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

This is for you winterstinks. How many people that don't drive trucks run stop signs and stop lights. Go to hwy 14 & 26 and you will see it every time the light turns red people run the red light. So don't come down on us truck drivers because that driver ran a stop sign. I know the person who was killed and my prayers go out to his family. Don't come down on us truck drivers because one of us made a terrible mistake and took a persons life, but there are a lot of people that drive4 wheelers that run stop signs and red lights.

I drove over the rumble strips today (3 of them) and they are shot. I went over them in a pick up and you would hardly know they were there. The county needs to repair them. Don't get me wrong folks, the red flashing light is still there and there is no excuse for the driver to run the stop sign. I know the deceased and my prayers go out to his family.
Just a thought, when you come up to a stop sign or a red light, PLEASE DO NOT ASSUME THE VEHICLE WILL STOP. ALWAYS ASSUME THE VEHICLE WILL NOT STOP, THIS IS CALLED DEFENSIVE DRIVING.

On Step by step, Janesville teachers are getting a pay increase

It seems like the news media is making a big deal on how much the teachers make. Now that GM is gone now they are picking on the teachers. All the teachers deserve all the money they get. Now on the other hand lets find out how much the administrative staff get paid. I will bet it is over $100,000 a year. All the time you here about t he teachers and there contract with school districts on how much it will cost to give them a raise. I doesn't mention the administrative staff on how much the school board gave them a raise. Lets give the teachers a raise and take some money away from the administrative staff.

God help us if Mike Sheridan runs. I hope he doesn't, if he does I will vote Republican even though I have voted Democratic for years. I predict there will be a Republican Governor next election.

tbatch, I'm not a mechanic either, but there is no doubt that he did not do what he was supposed to do under federal law. Like he said he is responsible for the save operation of that truck and he no doubt didn't do a good job in making sure it was safe.

I am currently going to truck driving school and the teach us how very important it is to do a pre trip and post trip inspection of your truck for break down and most of all so it will not cause a accident and even worse someone get hurt or killed. They also teach every time you stop for what ever reason you give your truck a good look over in case you find something wrong and able to get it fixed. According to the paper the lug nut were improperly holding the lug nuts to the truck. If the driver would have done a pre trip inspection he would of found that problem and got it fixed and the accident would not have happened. Also if the driver would have given his truck a quick inspection after he delivered his load he would have noticed the tire was missing. The driver is responsible for the load and the truck. He deserves a ticket and a big fine and the company should not have drivers that are that careless.

On As if lung cancer wasn't enough: Smokers tax going up

Posted on August 30 at 9:02 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

I quit smoking when a pack of cigarettes were $.25, that has been more that 30 years ago and I quit drinking when a bottle of beer was $.50 and that was better that 15 years ago. Why don't the government tax $2.52 a bottle of beer and tax hard liquor the same. A drunk driver kills people as well as people with second hand smoke. The government ups the penalty for drunk drivers but they don't up the liquor tax. They up the cigarette tax so people will quit smoking so why don't they up the liquor tax so people will quit drinking.

Don't feel bad about your taxes going up in Milton. What they went up is nothing compared to what mine went up last year. Mine went up $400.00, so quit your wining.
