If this was a guy trying for the job and had been a lifeguard all summer in his speedos, no one would say a thing!

On Wis. father charged in death of infant son

Posted on September 3 at 5:19 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

I am glad it is not in Rock county. I have a relative who has 2 grandkids, their mom told her that to get the baby (age 4 months) to go to sleep and stay asleep, she puts booze in the baby formula, and does it often. Well the CPS was called and they took 3 days to get to the house to check the baby. He was in the hospital by then and thankgoodness he lived, Did anything happen to the mom, heck no, so I see there is no help in this county anyway!!

On Have you ever created your own written tribute to your mother?

I feel bad for you who have a bad relationship with your mom. Mine is great, almost 90 and smart as a 20 year old. I just hope I can be the same. She still tries to do all for all and gets tired out doing all that she does. I buy a few months of cleaning for her. She is real surprised when she goes to write her cleaning girl a check and finds out it is already paid. She lives about 300 miles away so it is a great gift I think... I wish to all a better relationship with their parents because it is too late when they are gone...

On GM plans to cut 1,100 stores in restructuring plan

Well I do feel bad for the dealers who will be cut, and especially for the area newspapers such as the gazette. If they lose major advertisers such as car dealers, down they go too. Just look at most large city papers and you will see the biggest percentage of paid ads are from auto dealers. So just like auto workers being out of work, many more will be too. And Woody, I totally agree, if American people would buy the American made vehicles, and I dont mean made in America Honda, I mean cars from the big 3, then we would not be having these posts in here. We would be having posts about "hey, the Economy sure is picking up now", "glad GM is doing well now," and other positive statements like that. So you all who love your Jap Crap, move to Japan or China!!!!

On Sold! Bargain-hunters buying groceries at auction

great idea. Maybe it will begin around here. In the meantime, the Amish Grocery Store on Atkinson Road near Albany/Brodhead is a great place to save lots on groceries..
I have gotten my cat's canned food for 10 cents a can there and cake mixes for 99 cents sometimes. Many great prices for all kinds of items.

On Local workers opt to leave GM

This is a terrible thing to have happen. a person getting a 30 year pension already has an opportunity to get another 20k plus a voucher. duh. why? GM wake up, save the money, they will have their pension plus health care and dont need a extra 20k. The ones who want and need help are the ones with not many years and no pension to look forward to..
As a retiree I feel lucky to get a pension check each month. I received not 1 penny of extra to retire and i was happy with that.

Thanks for the info on the topsy turvy tomatoes. I may get one at Farm and fleet just to try it this year. Sounds like cherry ones would be best to save on the weight they will have.

wow, a great idea here. Since more and more of us want our own safer vegetables and fruits I believe many more will plant a garden this year. Just wondered if anyone has ever tried the topsy turvy type tomato plants. Do they really grow well upside down like that?
