On UAW/GM EAP holiday food drive won't happen

Posted on November 20 at 12:57 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

Not only the food drive, but the GM Toys for Echo...GM employees would donate up to $10,000 a year for the Echo toys. That won't be happening either. Too bad. It was a great "family" tradition that will be missed

My daughter had 11 kids in her PE class at Marshall on Wednesday!! I would say it's time to think about closing.

On Student safety trumped Obama speech

Posted on September 11 at 6:50 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

Whether we like it or not Obama IS THE president. I watched his speech - he said nothing other than what every kid should hear - Education is important to every child...you only get out of it what you want and you have to work hard to be the best you can be. Get over it people. That's what makes our country great, right - freedom of speech (by the way that includes the president.)

On Wis. schools deciding how to handle Obama speech

President Obama speaking = current events...isn't that part of the education curriculum...what is wrong about hearing a speech about the importance of education from anyone. I would have wanted my children to hear it even it was George Bush, Bill Clinton, Ronald Reagan or Martin LK...

On Pair arrested on suspected drug charges

I'm glad they are off the streets, but I do agree some compassion is needed. If she were my daughter I would be mortified. She looks like she once was a very pretty girl. Too bad she tried drugs the first time. I'm looking at her from a mother's point of view and thinking "what if that were my daughter". I hope and pray that these two learn from this and can turn their lives around...odds are against them.

On St. Paul’s donates school supplies to elementary students

Posted on August 18 at 7:03 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

I grew up extremely poor. Typically I started the school year with NO supplies or used supplies that my mother was able to pull together from what was in the house. Now there is no way I let my kids start without everything they need...I commend St Pauls. Every child wants to start the year off right, new shoes, new supplies, and no worries.

$50,000 that's more than I make in a year! I spend (if the kids are lucky) $250 a month.

On UPDATE: Beloit shooting victim still critical

Posted on July 20 at 8:11 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

This 17-year old girl was not the offender. She was a victim. She was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Somewhere she probably should not have been - but 17 IS still a kid. They make unwise choices. Unfortunately this poor girl has had to pay a horrible price for an unwise choice.

I don't know the girl personally, but I know a family that does and is very close to the girl's grandparents. She is not a bad girl, just a young teenager making a poor choice.

My prayers are with this girl's family. I'm praying that she makes a full recovery from the 2 gunshot wounds that hit several vital organs.
