On Aqua Jays explore idea of hosting the 4th of July

Posted on November 12 at 3:01 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

Love the idea of the Aqua Jays hosting the event, like the fireworks much better at Traxler, it just seems right having it there, if they need I would definately volunteer to help as I am sure many in the community would if the call were put out. I hope this works out.

On Janesville vets bringing health care home

Posted on November 4 at 9:19 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

We use Mt Zion animal clinic, they have been very very helpful. We adopted a bulldog with many problems and they knew exactly what to do for her. We also had an English Mastiff that we had to have put down last spring, he was almost 200lbs. My husband took him in and they allowed him privacy with the dog for almost 2 hours and took care of the aftercare for a very large animal at minimal cost. They helped us through a very difficult time and didnt turn our pockets inside out.

On Favre shakes off boos, Vikings beat Packers 38-26

I am a Packer fan and originally from Green Bay, today was bittersweet. You want to wish Favre well for all the years of enjoyment he has given Packer fans however, you still want your team to win and it is hard seeing the quarterback you cheered for wearing a different color jersey. Can't have it both ways. Can't wait for Rodgers to come into his own, Go Pack

On Variety of new car insurance increases take effect

Posted on October 25 at 6:09 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

My son was recently hit sitting at a stoplight by an uninsured motorist, he had to go the hospital, his car was damaged and what happens to this lady, nothing. She should have had to have had insurance to begin, she had a nice enough car, much nicer than my son's maybe she should have bought a less flashy car and splurged on some liability insurance instead. So now my insurance must pay for his hospital bills and his car does not get fixed, we only had liabilty on his because it was a starter car. I am all for everyone being required to have insurance if you are going to own/drive a vehicle. Maybe in the long run it will save as my insurance company now has to try to recoup its losses from a deadbeat

On Wisconsin lawmakers consider taking DNA at arrest

Posted on October 19 at 9:27 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

Correct me if I am wrong but a swab is different than a blood sample, I do not know how the police would be able to use that to plant evidence once the swab has gone in for testing then a dna profile is in the computer. Is this how it works?? If so I could care less if they have my dna, I dont plan on commiting any felonies and if I do, well I guess I deserve what I get

On Janesville City Council nixes bar, volleyball courts

Posted on October 13 at 6:12 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

I live near this proposed site and the traffic problems are bad, people go flying through these residential streets and uncontrolled intersections. The speeding coming off from Milton Ave through this area is unbelievable. I dont mind a bar and love the thought of the volleyball courts and would probably patronize a place like that, however I would like the police to take care of the traffic and speeding problems we already have in this area before we go adding to it.

On Public tours its 'cool' schools

Posted on October 12 at 8:39 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

I am happy about the schools, air conditioning and all. My son attends Craig and is enjoying the improvements. My happiness comes from the standpoint that money is being put into the future of the kids and the city. Should we ever get together and turn this town around our schools should be a great draw for families to come live here. No need to be upset over who built it, it is done, now lets work together as a city and turn this thing around, attract new business, new families and in exchange a new jobs and a new tax base to help pay for future needs.

On Does Janesville need a second hospital?

Posted on October 11 at 10:23 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

Hopefully the ER staff at the new hospital will be trained in discretion. I was at Mercy ER last week with my son and an elderly gentleman was in the room next to us. He was obviously disoriented and kept yelling help or youwhoo, I distinctly heard the staff at the desk making fun of him, what a disgrace. He was all alone no family and they were mocking him, nice. I was disgusted, they did not even shut our door as my son was being looked at. Later 2 male doctors came in to look at him and in a graphic manner described the procedure they were to do, it was not proper and was very upsetting. He deserved better and deserved to keep his dignity.

On Janesville City Council debates when city should act to remove snow

Posted on October 10 at 8:10 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

Woodsman, while I appreciate the sentiment I drive a 4x4 Tahoe, should have plenty of ground clearance, but last year the ice and ruts were so bad on my street it was like driving a lumber wagon and 4wd does not help when all four are on ice, it was terrible. The main streets were fine for me but I have to drive through residentials to get home, something needs to change, ask the people that plow snow should they not have a better idea as to what is safe and what is not rather than the city council. As for our city manager being from Sedona, it should make no difference as I am sure he knows the difference between 2 inches of snow on the ground and an accumulation of 2 inches per day for a week. Maybe I should get a plow and put it on my truck at least my area would be safe, is it legal to plow your own street?
