On With a month to go, have you decided your presidential pick?

If I wanted a "Hockey Mom" as VP for the United States, I would run myself. I think S. Palin has about the same experience as I do to assist running our country.

On Two-sided story: Schools, parents debate twins’ placement

Posted on September 2 at 8:45 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

I would want my kids in the same class if I were a parent of twins. At least at this early age. Then you could be consistant at home with continuing what is being taught in the classroom. Each teacher has different methods and schedules. Last year the other classes in my child's grade were doing completely different things. You may not tell your dr how to be a doctor but you have the final say on medical decisions, you may not tell the hairdresser how to cut your hair but you tell them how you like it cut or issues with your hair. As a parent you should have a final say as long as there isn't something clearly harmful to your child.

On Rotary Gardens board wants to charge an admission fee

I love the gardens and take my kids there every once in awhile for walks but I could never afford to pay $14 each time I went there. I wish I had a better suggestion or idea but I don't.

On Traffic plan promised for Harmony parents

Posted on August 5 at 6:11 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

Miltongirl- Get a clue. Have you been around Harmony school at drop off or pick up? The principal at the school couldn't handle the traffic there last year now one crossing guard is going to take care of twice as many kids crossing Rotamer??? Maybe the City of Janesville needs to let us park along Rotamer instead of only having the bike only lanes.

On Mercy announces cuts

Posted on July 24 at 4:14 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

I have to agree the money spent on advertising "how wonderful Mercy is and how they won the award" is rather foolish. Seeing that short little guy standing next to GWB does nothing for me. If I have an emergency I will go to Mercy since there is no other hospital here. Why do they have to advertise???? Much like the post office why do they run ads and sponsor race cars and athletic teams?? Who else are we going to use to mail a letter or bill?? URGH!

On Scoring a victory over Japanese beetles

Posted on July 22 at 6:22 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

I googled it last week and this is what I used to kill the adult beetles....a 1/4 cup of Dawn dish soap and a gallon of water. Put it in a pump sprayer and spray the beetles and the bushes, it kills them on the spot. The spray on the bushes also keep them away now.

On Board looks at high school plans in Milton

Posted on July 16 at 12:05 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

Do all of those children really walk at East and West walk or are they driven by their parents who park on the city streets surrounding the school grounds to be dropped off and picked up? I will not let my children walk 1.8 miles to school, I will definately drive them but the Harmony drop off area and parking lot are too small. And we can not park on Rotamer.

On Residents oppose planned bike tunnel

Posted on July 15 at 4:02 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

OUr family would appreciate the tunnel as we do the one under Hwy 14. I have two small children that take some time to cross the street. We begin crossing when no one is around and we still have speeding cars coming at us by the time we reach the other side. Also you have some motorists who are considerate and stop to the flashing yield lights but then someone in the next lane blows right through. That makes it hazardous to the motorists too.

On Milton School Board considers dropping some bus service to Harmony school

Posted on July 15 at 9:45 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

The district needs to improve the drop off zone and pick up area at Harmony. We can't park on Rotamer Rd and yet we have to park to pick up our children because we have to go behind the school to do so. All the other schools in the district have street parking options...we don't at Harmony.
