On Stitching memories: Old quilt blocks become wall art

I absolutely loved this article! As a quilter myself, it really gives me inspiration for what to do with older quilts that may have become worn down too much. Thank you so much for the work you do and your husbands homemade buttons to add to these amazing pieces of art!

On Will you spend more or less this holiday season?

Posted on November 28 at 12:08 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

We'll probably spend about the same as last year, Several years ago our family decided to start drawing names, and it has worked great! You don't go broke and everyone gets something nice to open for Christmas. Spending time with family, having a good meal and just enjoying being together is what makes Christmas special. It reminds you of what the true meaning of Christmas is. God's love for us all. Also with Obama re-elected we may as well try to enjoy what we can now because he is sure going to try taking what he can from all of us, not just the top people. Everyone buys into that theory but we are certainly not rich and right after the election our home owners insurance went up 15%. Coincidence? I don't think so. So, hopefully everyone reading this will have a very blessed Christmas and enjoy being with family and friends. Merry Christmas!!!

On Police won’t boot protesters from Capitol

Posted on February 27 at 8:50 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

I have a couple questions. First are all the protesters that are refusing to leave the Capital building not working? I too am a union member, but I have a job to go to tomorrow. It's a job I have a lot of respect for and if any of you have jobs I would think you would be going to your job instead of spending the night at the Capital, after all I think the point has been made already. Question number two is Are my union dues being used to pay you while you sit at the Capital building while I work because if so I want my money back. The Police have asked that you leave and now the building is stinking and you still refuse and enough already. Lets let the Senators that were elected come home and let them do the job they were elected to do and let Democracy take over now. You had your say let's get this thing rolling. Enough. It's a sad day when they say our State Capital building is smelling like a locker room.

On Potential line at Janesville GM plant surrounded by 'what ifs'

Posted on June 4 at 6:24 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

I just had to say, "too poor to be a Republican and too rich to be a Democrat"? Please! I'm a Republican and my family and myself are certainly not rich. We simply want to work hard for ourselves to feed our family and take a few vacations when we can afford it. My husband has worked hard his whole life, he is a Republican also. Lets quit the rich vs poor already, that one is really really old. How about as Americans with the freedom we have give everyone the right to pick whatever car they want and not diss the people if they don't buy so called American. A lot of these so called foreign cars are made right here in the US anyways giving Americans jobs also. Geez!!!! You know one thing that always make me feel better knowing I am a Republican is looking at all the Liberals; who by the way, aren't you the ones that are the more accepting of others and others feelings etc.? Then everytime someone doesn't agree with you all you can do is blast them! You guys are only tolerant when everyone agrees with you, but watch out if you don't!

I for one am so sick of everything being blamed on the Republicans. No, they did not get us into this mess by any means,. Did the Democrats? No. Both parties have a lot of blame to go around but one thing I do know, there was a time and place for a union back in the day, and now the union just priced themselves out of a job. I'm not jealous either, because I happen to belong to a union, but lets not fool ourselves, there are plenty of people that would love to have a job for 14.00 an hour to feed thier families. That isn't such a bad thing. This was bound to happen at some point and it did. I'm not just blaming the union either. The company went along with all the demands so they need to take the blame too, but to now have the government involved is a scary thing to me and many others. Even the former people of the USSR are telling us to watch it. It's getting way too close to Socialism and we all know that Socialism doesn't work. We are a capitalistic society, we pick ourselves up and start over, but not with the government owning everthing and having their fingers in everything we do.

On Mercy announces cuts

I am an employee of Mercy Health System and proud of it. There is no perfect health system, but we strive everyday to improve patient care first, our attitudes (sounds like a few could work on that some) but to simply be the best we can be. Are there flaws? Of course there are, but I think everyone has to admit that to actually be awarded the Malcolm Baldridge Award we are pretty damn good.Don't tell me it's because of money exchanging hands either; like I said earlier, I do work there, I work hard to be the best I can be in my job and I've also been a patient and had to do my share of waiting. All I can really say to that is if it comes between someone being there for a headache, flu, rash or heart problem, I would certainly hope the heart patient would get treated first. Anyone who feels as bad about where they work as some of these people writing should really find another job and let appeciative and caring people have the jobs.
