grasshopper: Not sure how old your children are but I spanked my daughter when she was a toddler. Never had a police officer show up at my door.

On Parade seen as symbol of both loss and hope

dailynewsreader: Totally agree with your statement about the Green Berets. I know there have been articles in the gazette in regards to them. I also remember when Janesville had a competitive drum corps that competed in DCI and religiously participated in the parade. The complication comes from the expense of equipment and travel and also that fewer adults have an interest.

hollynpat: I think the woman in this story should loan you her son for awhile. My nephew was diagnosed as ADD/AHD. I watched my sister question herself constantly. Bottom line is that my sister was a good mother but her son was not controllable. Some of the things that this woman has gone through are things my sister went through. Thankfully, my nephew learned how to manage and deal with his demons and turned out as a valuable member of our society. Please think before you blame the parent. You are entitled to your opinion, but please phrase it that way.

On Hushing a Day of Silence

slainte: I will rephrase my post because it is not a blanket statement. Of the two private schools I have dealt with, the students were more closed minded and judgemental than the students attending public school. Especially when the subject was homosexuality.

slainte: You honestly think a private school will be so much different than public school? From the private schools I know of, the students are more close-minded and judgemental than the kids that go to public school.
