On Change added to garbage pickup schedule
I knew it was only a matter of time before residents starting complaining about our new garbage collecting carts. So what if your garbage is picked up one day later due to the holidays? If one day really matters to you that much, take your garbage to the dump. As for overtime money, I am sure most employees were getting it weekly anyway. As long as the department lives within their budget, what is the problem?
I am so happy that garbage is not being strewn down the streets on garbage day. So happy that animals are not pecking into plastic bags and scattering garbage. So happy that I have an easy to move cart and an extra one for all of my many recyclables that the city now collects.
Now we only need lazy Janesvillians to take their empty carts off of the curb the night of pickup. I have voluntarily moved a bunch of carts back to their place for my elderly neighbors. Try it many of you complainers.
On Rock County Christian students post above average test scores
When we were looking for a school for my grade school children, I looked at Rock County Christian. I was very impressed with the teachers who worked there and the students whom I saw there. Facilities were not that impressive but that did not bother us.
The reasons that these students do well are as follows: #1) smaller classes with plenty of time for 1:1 for each student. #2) parent(s) who actually care about the education of their children and participate in the daily happenings of the school.
We actually did not select Rock County as the cost was substantially more than we could afford.
However, had we been able to afford it, Rock County would have been my first choice in the area.
On Goodbye, Mom: Family sends mother on final journey with hospice
This is a beautiful story of a family that loved their mother, as she loved them and they were all there together to say goodbye to her. How is that not special? This story brought a tear to my eye as I read it and I commend this family for allowing their mother to die with the wonderful assist of hospice.
It reminded me of the wonderful relationship that I had with my late grandmother and my mother in law.
As usual, Janesvillians have to whine about everything.Enjoy the good things about the day and count your blessings.
On Janesville City Council candidates talk jobs, services, fiscal responsibility
No, No, No. Do not write in Yuri Rashkin. Mr. Rashkin just go away. Your past divisive behavior is not wanted or appreciated. Time for a real job Mr Rashkin.
On Janesville's new trash-collection-system kickoff approaches
I am so excited about these garbage carts. Finally, I am hoping that it will curtail all of the garbage that never makes it to the truck and then blows through my neighborhood on a very windy day. Also looking forward to not having animals breaking into the plastic garbage bags and strewing garbage all about.
Love the fact that they will now be accepting recyclables up to #7. I will hardly have any trash now as I can recycle so much.
However, I am sure many Janesvillians will get themselves into a tizzy when they see that the workers will only pick up what is in the carts and not all of the crap placed next to the carts. I can see it now and am awaiting the whining now.
On Developer hopes to build new CVS pharmacy in Janesville
Why do they need to be across the street from Walgreens? Unfortunately my employer dictates that I must get my prescriptions at CVS.
I have never been to a pharmacy that has more rude employees than the CVS on the west side of Janesville.
I sure hope that if CVS opens on the east side, they do not allow any of the rude employees to come to the new location.
On City plans snow operations
I don't understand why they call a snow emergency and then never ticket half of the people parked in the street. I have a better idea. Tow all of the people parked on the street like they do in Milwaukee during a snow emergency and get the streets clear of snow.
Most of the people parked on the street have a driveway that they could park on. Better yet, clean out the crap in the garage and park in there.
On Superintendent Schulte on her way to China again
This woman is beyond words. We can only afford 2 assistant principals at Craig to handle discipline for 1600 students; we cant afford to fix the outdoor security cameras at CRaig thus putting everyone inside in jeopardy and on and on. Go and stay away Schulte. You will not be missed.
On Plowing is slow going in rural areas of Rock County
Slippery 1-I couldn't agree more. I have lived here for 10 years and commute via 14 east of Janesville. The roads in Rock County are always worse than Walworth County after a storm and this storm is no exception. Waukesha County does a great job.
Frankly it is more than time to get rid of what is not working and go private. That way, if they don't do the job, they can be replaced. Frankly anyone who thinks that Rock County does a good job plowing must either work for the County or be a relative.
On Combination snarls traffic
Another problem was that some roads are still icy, slippery and so bumpy. Holiday Drive, 14 West of 26 and all the Frontage roads off of Milton Avenue come to mind as some of the worse. Why couldn't the city have come out yesterday and put down salt on these slippery areas. They'll probably be out today when they get double time.
