On Secrecy reigns in Orfordville

Posted on January 22 at 2:58 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

Al, is this how you are going to run your campain to get on the village board? Using social media to get your information and make accusaions. If you want to get on the board why don't you go to the board meetings and get some information there? Or why don't you go to a village board member and ask them your questions? But I suppose you are going to be another one issue person running for the board. If anyone is going to be on any board they should educate themselves or at least attend some of the meetings, instead of going to the internet. But I see you just joined this website today so you could throw insults at the current board.

As always on here, a bunch of people including the Gazette talking about stuff they have no clue about. Chief Brett Favre I mean Chief Dave Wickstrum has been going to retire several times. From the start he was only going to work for 2 years and retire. That was 8 plus years ago. How many times must the board guess on what he is doing. Shame on the Gazette for always trying to make a bigger story about something than it really is. Maybe you should change the name to Fox Xtra.com or extraxtra.com they like to make mountains out of mole hills to. The Gazette knows darn well that board members can not talk about stuff from closed sessions. And why can't they still talk about a hiring process that will take place at some point. It has been over 25-30 years since they have hired someone from outside the department. I would guess their process needs updating.

On 45th District candidate Rucker alone on skills gap

jasondowd hits it right on. Anyone who talks or listens to Russell Rucker in person will discover in minutes that he doesn't have the tools to represent in Madison. You may like is made for print statements but take the time to meet him and you will change your mind. Any of the other candidates are a better choice.

"I joined with other members to stop a tax increase".....Russell there has been a tax increase every year you have been on the village board and you HAVE voted YES every time. I guess you just don't know what you are voteing on.

To be honest Russell most of the time you don't have a clue whats going on unless Dale or Eugene tell you what to do. When directly asked for your opinion at board meetings, and before they state their opinion, most of the time you don't have one because you don't know what to do.

Your so proud of voting no on sewer plant issues, but every vote you had was against finishing a $35,000 needs study that was already approved over 5 years ago. You were not voting to stop spending money you were voting not to finish a study that would be good for the next 7 years if funding became available from the state or federal governments. Also the plant that was built for 25 years of use is over 30 years old. If it fails we have the plan ready to go to fix things and you were against it all. I guess your stand is that if it fails we just all go back to useing out houses again.

On Town chairman suggests fire departments explore merger

Great thought Rick. I am not sure I would agree with going from 2 to 1 department. But I am sure they could down size the number of trucks they have. But this will go no where because the fire departments have been the golden eggs forever. No one dares to say anything about them or even think of making them down size or give up anything. Rick you have kicked a bee hive. I can hear the buzzing around the hive already.

Hergert says "You lose this, this community's gone." That's because he sits there all day everyday with his nose stuck in everyone's business. And if it closed he would have nothing else to do with his life.

On Parkview district considers closing small, rural elementary school

I just learned that there are kids that live right in Orfordville that are being bused to Newark to keep the numbers up. A couple students live within 1 block of the Orfordville Elementary. Like they can see it from their house. How crazy is that.

One other note. When you buy a home in the country and then have kids don't complain that they have to ride a bus. If you don't like bus rides don't live in the country or move closer to town where the schools should be.
