On What will happen to 95?

labor VERSUS management is good and necessary to protect workers, etc. However, when it became labor VERSUS the company good, or for that matter labor versus everything (including company survival) that stood between it and better terms for the next contract, that marked the beginning of the end. In good times, it works, but when the economic cycle trends down, it doesn't work. No President, political party or ideology has a silver bullet nor can they 'control' the economy. It's globalism, scope and externalities all make it uncontrollable and only moderately affected by stimulus packages and the like. Unions which thrive and survive the good times and bad, are those which truly partner with owners to ensure as much stability as possible while attempting to grow the company or industry. Lessons learned? We'll see and we'll know when the next big union decides how to conduct themselves during negotiations.

On Kenosha eyes smoking ban

And by the way, 'Armyof3' is completely wrong when they state; "we all pay the same amount of taxes." Sin taxes on tobacco products are beyond the normal sales taxes that we all pay.

Here's the 'logic.' Smoking causes harm to society through high costs of healthcare related to smoking. Smoking kills. Okay, based on those arguments, we need to outlaw fatty and high-cholesterol foods, as these produce far more cost to, and deaths, in society. Smokers are easy targets as fewer people smoke. That doesn't mean non-smokers should be able to take away the right of smokers. Limitations, yes. The public at-large should not be subjected to smokers in places such as airports, bus terminals, cabs, buses, government buildings, etc. And, places like Miller Park have no smoking seating sections. They get it. Restaurants get it. Taverns and other small business owners get it. I don't smoke, but believe in the right of those who do to forgo having everyplace except their home, declared non-smoking. It simply isn't fair, especially since this is the only hazardous behavior being singled out for a ban.

McNally and McNally cheerleader commenters are wrong. Voters elected the justices, not one organization. McNally must think voters, or at least a majority of them in these elections, are stupid or were duped by commercials. Not so. Very interesting that McNally and his cheerleaders never complained about 'big education' and 'big labor' and 'big Indian Gaming' support for Doyle who won re-election. Apparently, if a 'big' groups spend money for McNally's annointed candidates, they get a pass. Only 'big business' is evil and nefarious in their participation in elections. Oh wait, unless it is the big business of education or indian gaming. How transparent of McNally to call out his regular nemesis, anyone who pursues profit instead of socialism. McNally's claim that a sitting judge (Gableman) had 'no apparent qualifications' is absurd, especially since he expresses such disdain for Justice Ziegler, whose opponent had zero bench experience. Ahhh, the McNally standard: if you're not ultra liberal, you're against us. McNally's non-sensical rants that contradict his own prior writings, at least if logic or reason counts for anything, have become little more than a literary caricature of the anti-everything hippie protester. Yet another dissapointment from Joel McNally. whose scribblings over time, build justification for newspapers to reconsider publishing his agenda-riddled bologna.

Give me one morning with school children and I can make sure Robson receives a stack of letters decrying high taxes and anti-business regulation, both of which lead to less toys for the kiddies at Christmas because Mommy or Daddy lost their job or can't get one. Nice to see Robson is focused using the kids instead of saving the jobs. My second letter writing campaign from the children will be how Mommy and Daddy lost their jobs because Senator Robson helps drive jobs from Wisconsin and prevent jobs from coming here. Again, less toys at Christmas. Boo-hoo. Help us Senator.

What it shows is that one party, in this case Mirbeau-Hummel, believes their rights have been violated and will utilize the legal system to seek justice. Maybe they will win and maybe not. Too bad 'Mopsy' doesn't think much of the law and our system of justice.

Nice to see the 'anti-everything' crowd did not win the mayor's seat. However, their antics at council meetings that include making unsubstantiated accusations is sure to continue. Perhaps they think if they simply say people are corrupt, etc., enough times, it will become the truth or at least believed by those paying only cursory attention. Reddy went negative and got rejected by the majority. I'm sure she'll blame it on everything but herself.

Dear DrawnToBlog,
I am curious if you are upset that people supporting Reddy with time, $, etc., are doing it because they want her to advance their agenda. My guess is you are not, but I would be happy to be corrected. One advantage of our Republic is that there are opportunities to participate, regardless of financial means. For some reason, you seem to be advancing the idea that someone who donates money is trying to corrupt politics. Could it be that they are simply supporting an organization which supports candidates they prefer. Why should that be disallowed? Financial support does not stink any more than other support which is worth money. It is but one way to participate in the political process. For example, unions often flex their political muscle through membership numbers, voter turnout, direct mail and e-mail to members, volunteers for literature delivery to homes and sign locations. Unions, like any special interest support candidates they believe will be favorable to them. Many public employees are unionized and paid with tax payer dollars. Others work in the private sector but are still governed by state and federal collective bargaining laws. Where is your outrage for union participation in elections? Churches may promote a member of their parish. Why don't wyou want to investigate what that may be worth for either candidate? It is clearly worth something and may actually determine the election. Should members of a church be prohibited from organizing votes on behalf of a member of their church? Banning participation in the political process based solely on $$ is a slippery slope and unnecessary in Wisconsin due to very strict laws and rules. Finally, the USSC is not on your side, particularly with recent campaign finance rulings both before and after McCain-Feingold.

An apology is not a necessity, just common courtesy, and in this case very telling about how those in power will treat us little people if they get even more power.
