On Why can't we leave the leaves?

Posted on November 9 at 5:07 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

Now if the city would keep the compost site open long enough so I could get all those leaves over there after I rake and bag all my leaves and my elderly neighbors' leaves, that would be great. I would typically have to make 2-3 trips per weekend, with 12 bags per trip, though.

By raking them to the street the city is saving money and I am lowering my carbon footprint.

Guess the City of Brotherly Love doesn't necessarily feel the same way about animals...

The original Goof Off is potent stuff. I have used that to remove stickers from desks (does a GREAT job), but it lingers in the room for hours. Definitely need fresh air when working with it.

Welcome to Wisconsin. Friends in other states are amazed that we don't seem to jail people for OWI unless people are killed.

SuperDave - Yes, 233 confirmed cases. See this AP story in the Wisconsin State Journal: http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/W/W...

The State lab is now processing samples rather than sending them to the CDC, so samples can be confirmed faster.

On Pawlenty wants to see Favre in Vikings purple

Pawlenty was quoted as saying it would be "a wonderful little salt to rub in the eyes of some of our Green Bay Packer friends."

So much for "Minnesota nice"! Rubbing salt in a wound would hurt. Rubbing salt in the eyes would probably scar the cornea enough to blind someone. Is this a wrestling trick Pawlenty picked up from former Governor Jesse "The Body" Ventura? ;-)

"wreckless"? The guy totalled his car! Sorry, but I find the typo pretty funny given the nature of the story. Thanks for making my night! :-)

On Winners named in Battle of Books

Great job by the Library staff in organizing this event. It ran very smoothly! Thank you for your efforts on this exciting competition.

The kids were amazing. They worked together as teams, they reacted well under pressure, and win or lose, they were good sports. There were some really close matchups!
