On Five weeks for school computer fix

Posted on October 15 at 1:11 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

Anything over 1 day for that many servers is uncacceptable. When a virus hit the company I work for, with over 100 locations and servers globally, our system was disrupted for less than half a day.

It does seem that the District's IT department is in over it's head, and the experts that they have brought in to help may be over theirs as well.

This would NEVER happen in the business world. Maybe Mr. Studer can help out in IT, too!

On Man jailed for sharing opinion on justice system

It would appear that Mr. Jutz was experiencing verbal diarrhea. When asked during jury selection whether he'd had a bad experience with police, he should have responded either "yes" or "no." The lawyers or the judge could ask follow up questions if they were so inclined.

Instead, Mr. Jutz appears to have made a broad generalization that seems to indicate that he feels *all* members of the police are corrupt: "Well, it's pretty much the police will say and do anything they want to make a case, and the courts aren't really fair about it. Because if they got money, you can get out of it." Making a sweeping generalizations when a simple one-word answer would have done is just plain stupid.

Case dismissed!

On Parents accused of teaching kids to smoke pot

andiwonderwhy - I think sterilization is a bit radical, especially since it will be difficult to have those kids once someone proves themselves to be a responsible parent if they've already been sterilized! :-)

But I completely agree with the parental responsibility part. Seeing some of the kids that show up in the elementary schools, and hearing about their home life, will just break your heart. Kids are a gift and a responsibility, not an accessory!

On UPDATE: Interstate reopens after accident delays Craig High football game

Just passed the crash site after sitting at a standstill for an hour. The bus was gone, but a semi with a smashed nose and a water utility truck with a smashed rear were still there.

On Drive turns into domestic incident

My wife hates to stop at rest stops on road trips, too, but at least she doesn't dump food on me!

I better drink less coffee the next time we are traveling, just in case... :-)

On In oil debate, Democrats want to kill planet to save it

Drilling in these offshore areas will produce little oil compared to existing fields, and the oil will not be flowing until 2030. How about everybody in Washington work together (now there's a concept!) to help reduce consumption and find alternatives NOW. We DO need to look at new sources - but this is not going to bring gas back down to $3/gallon in time for the election.

On GM closing accelerated

I just read the paper cover to cover.

Must...go...buy... Not sure why I now have an overwhelming desire to go spend all my hard-earned cash on frivolous geegaws. I seem to have lost all self control and common sense. Gee, I hope it wasn't some subliminal message in the paper.... ;-)

C'mon, razor. Don't make me get up on my personal responsibility soapbox!

On Trash schedule changes on July Fourth

Posted on June 26 at 7:41 p.m. ( Suggest removal )

You know, those of use who normally have trash pickup on Mondays just deal with it when a holiday falls on a Monday and trash pickup is moved. Don't you generate more trash than normal at other times of the year? I know we do at Thanksgiving and at Christmas. We deal with it - we might put out an extra bag or can when the time comes. You can, too.

If you don't want to hold it until Monday, drive it down to the city landfill site on Saturday.

Can we move on to a real issue now?

Wow, satire before 8 AM! Gotta be careful there, Testerrific. Not everyone has had their coffee yet.

On Carp gathering to mate in United Way parking lot

Firehouse Park was wall-to-wall carp this morning. At first I thought there was some sort of plant in the gardens there bobbing in the current, but them I saw one break the surface and realized what I thought were leaves were actually fins!
