Matt -

Thank you for being my counterpart in the newsroom throughout the summer. The graduations and the fair wouldn't have been the same without you.

Good luck with everything ahead of you.

Look me up when you get back into MadTown. We can catch up on what I missed at the Gazette since I left.

Ryan

It stinks watching the Gazette from the sidelines.

Hope all is going well for everybody in the newsroom. Wish I was there.

A reverse lookup is a good start, but it doesn't mean the people who own the house (the ones who appear on the reverse lookup) are the ones who died.

On North vs. Up North

So, then where would Up North be from Eau Claire?

On North vs. Up North

I had this experience when I graduated high school and was heading to Eau Claire. A friend of mine was from Medford and I told her I was going to the Northwoods for college. She vehemently corrected me, saying that Eau Claire was not the Northwoods.

It's not completely the Northwoods, but it's definitely close. So, Up North would be points north of Eau Claire.

But going off that definition, would you still be going Up North if you were going to Chippewa Falls from Eau Claire? (For all of the southerners, it's a 15-20 minute drive north, depending on how fast you're going).

On City installing new manhole covers

I apologize for the confusion.

Nero had it correct. The covers are not all being replaced at once. They are only getting replaced on an as needed basis. When the engineering department makes repairs to covers or castings, they'll put in a re-designed cover and casting.

As for the cost. The new covers cost exactly the same as the old, non-designed ones, which would be replaced anyway.

The new covers will not cost the city any more money than they already would pay for replacing manhole covers.

Sorry again for the confusion.
