I used to work at this camp and every summer it was so nice to see these kids. I'm so glad they're still doing it. I think it's really great!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE for the love of all things holy ------- let's not play the race card. If we're going to go down that road, then let's bring up the fact that she's a girl and he's a man. Maybe she's a man hater. Maybe it was a political thing...... it's absurd to even bring that up!!!!

What I find interesting as I'm reading all of these is that nobody has mentioned the very simple word: R-E-S-P-E-C-T when talking about the parents involvement. Kids have no respect for theor parents anymore. What about that? And yes... I think that does fall back on the parents. Children need to learn about respect from their parents and other adults in their family. This society has a total lack of respect!

Annoyed...... "there is probably more behind the story than you people know about." --- What does that mean??
"she's human, people do worse things everyday. dont you think killing someone is already more than a slap on the wrist?" --- People DO do worse things everyday and hopefully they will also get their punishment.
"dont worry she will be punished and she will learn from this. do you honestly think shes going to want to get into a car drunk again after going through all of this, especially after killing someone?" --- If she's not punished.... YES SHE WILL!!!
And what does "JUST smoked pot" mean? Do you realize that is illegal, as well as underage drinking?
Chelsie - you claim to be happily married, but you sound VERY IMMATURE to me.
It's some of the comments in here that make me fear for the future of my children.
When I was a teenager, I knew that my parents were going to let me sit in jail if I ever ended up there. My kids will know the same thing. That's called discipline and knowing the concept of actions vs. consequences. I don't think that as many parents these days discipline their kids like they used to. They're too busy trying to be "friends" with their kids. Kids don't need more friends - they need better parents.
I also feel the the myspace information is valid to the story. She put those comments on there of her own free will. It's apparently how she feels honestly about things.

ADULT ACTIONS REQUIRE ADULT CONSEQUENCES!
I don't think that letting her have bad feelings about this is punishment enough. Those kids have lost a father, his wife has lost a husband...... SHE CAN LOSE HER FREEDOM for a while.

All the kids that are on here posting stuff are not mature enough to understand the whole realm of what happened.

I think that anyone - whether they're 16 or 96 - should be put in jail for a CRIME such as this. That is what this is.... a crime! A homicide. A tragedy!

The people here defending her actions are sad as far as I'm concerned. Of course she feels bad. She'd feel bad if she just caused damage to her own car or something simple like that. But anyone in their right mind knows that she will go right back into her same HABITS once she's done feeling BAD about it. Get real people!

"poor kid is sixteen i feel so bad for her"

WHAT??? You feel bad for her?????

What about the family that is left with no father and husband because of a CHILD who was drunk and stoned behind the wheel of a car????? Where are the parents here? I think she should be treated as an adult since she apparently was THINKING she was being an adult when she made the decision to do what she did.
