On Reflections on bombings in Boston
I also agree that overexposure by the media is not only annoying, but a part of the problem. IMO, people who do things like this have exposure and recognition as a main motive. and for gosh sakes....I don't need to see the same 12 second clip looped over and over for a half hour. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CBpwyH9Ez...
On Will bypass help or hurt Milton commerce?
your right sigma, if it happened in one place, it absolutely will happen in another. not.
Milton has a strong base of businesses. They have core units like hardware, groceries, home maintenance. These have probably never really relied on "cruise thru" traffic on 26. As long as the other businesses continue to provide unique, quality services, there is a strong chance that they will survive. Any businesses failure is usually dependent on it's inability to perform and adapt. Milton has just as good of chance at becoming a "hot-spot", where people go to get off the darn bypasses of life.

On Janesville's new trash-collection-system kickoff approaches
I am looking forward to the new system. but....."Automated collection is more efficient than manual collection, and Whitcomb said his department has been carrying two vacancies for a year in anticipation of the change."if you can carry "two vacancies" for a year, you were over staffed to begin with.
On Does your home have an “electronic elephant”?
mgcarguy, I feel your pain. from the other end. I am constantly at my mother in law's house to deal with her most recent electronic dilemma. The last time I was summoned, I arrived to find her on the phone to her cable provider. Completely frustrated that her kitchen tv was no longer showing a picture. I asked if it had "just gone out while watching it" and she said yes. what I didn't realize was that she was referring to her old tv. they had just hooked up a newly purchased tv and didn't remember that they had to change it to channel 3 to get the cable to work. :)
