On 'Cash for Clunkers,' model changeover leaving dealers without cars

I wouldn't say this program is prolonging the recession or helping bring it to an end. We have already seen that Ford posted gains in car sales in July, obviously helped by this program. This program will come to an end in November if I recall correctly, ( I might be wrong so don't virtually slam me for that). It is only my opinion, but I would not be surprised that when this program comes to an end, we will see drops in car sales again. I'm not hoping for that situation, but I just think that things are not as good as the administration has been saying they are. We will have to see a sustained month after month increase of auto and durable goods sales to confidently say that this recession is finally turning around.

Why would u say, "Gee theres a surprise."? They were competing against 6 other very good teams, including the National Champion from the last 3 years. And if you didn't notice it was quite windy today and that makes it very difficult to do a lot of things on the water. Don't take what they do for this community for granted.

Its great to have them back, but I'm now worried for them again after all the rain we just have overnight and this morning. Tournament this weekend may be in trouble.

Also, just because the river level is below action stage does not mean that it is at the "normal" level. The starting dock the Jays use does not float, meaning, it doesn't go up and down with river levels. The surface of that dock is just now out of the water. Once the river flows under the dock would be a better indication of a "normal" river level. I agree that it would be great for the Aqua Jays to get back on the water here. Its a great thing for our community, I'm sure they are anticipating getting back to their home site. They have a lot of work to get completed before that can happen, but I'm sure they are getting their plans together now to be skiing in Janesville in the next week or two.

Skiddz, the river is down from its high levels earlier this spring, but it doesn't mean that it is at a normal level. The best gage is visual at Traxler Park. The dock used by the Aqua Jays is still underwater as of this afternoon. The top is now visible, but normal level would be water flowing underneath of it. The prediction is that the river could be a foot lower by the end of the week, that would be closer to normal.
On Janesville GM plant designated as standby

danias, your facts are wrong. You need to check other websites. The Gazette has reported the news correctly. Read the post by heed 5379, he works at the Orion facility. I'm not saying this means Janesville is opening again, but since its status has changed from "closed" to "standby", it means there may be a slight glimmer of hope.

danias, you need to look closer at your sources. The stamping plant is on stanby as a STAMPING plant. This plant will be the stamping plant for the new vehicle that will be built either in Orion Township, Spring Hill, or Janesville. Since Orion and Spring Hill already do build smaller cars, I would think they have the upper hand in this, however, this news just means that Janesville is not completely dead just yet.

popcorn, you do not have to live in Rock County. You just need to be able to either phone in your order by noon this coming Monday, or order over the Internet. You would also have to be able to come to Janesville on the days of the pick ups as mentioned in the article.
