Colleen MacMurphy(Dana Delaney of the series "China Beach" has always been a favorite. However you can't overlook KC(Marg Helgenberger) from the same series. There is also Boonie, Dodger and many others who came and went in what was an excellent series about Vietnam. Currently on PBS is the series "Wallander"(Kenneth Brannagh) and the rebirth of "Upstairs, Downstairs" (Jean Marsh). These both show potential.

Christmas in Connecticut is a schmaltzy, enjoyable diversion. Sadly in light of Friday's events, it is cast in a totally different light.

As a young child the music that would put me into the holiday spirit was from a four record album by Perry Como. In particular (Adeste Fidelius) also known as OH Come All Ye Faithful. Mr. C may not rank in the pantheon of great singers, but to me as a child his music brought the holidays home to me.

It's nice to hear the dramatic arts are thriving in my old hometown. I remember back in the stone age when I attended Janesville Senior High, the art students worked on the sets for the productions. I committed an unpardonable sin by not spelling the word Buffalo correctly on the train car set in Annie Get Your Gun! . Needless to say I heard about it. I support Parker in their attempts at offering more relevant material along with the traditional pieces.
On What word would you use to describe Janesville?

Sepia-tone. I know it's two words. It will always be like a grouping of old photographs in my memory. Those photos show places of my childhood and the people that were a part of it. As another writer posted there's a "comfort" to the town and that color.
On When it comes to albums, how long is too long?

Don't know if these qualify. Have two three short albums (four songs)that I purchased overseas in the sixties. Elvis, The Beatles, etc. Haven't thought about them in years. They are pieces of younger years that gave me a touch of home when I was very far away.

I would begin at the corner of Main and Milwaukee. Here a bank now sits, there once was the Milner hotel. My Grandfather lived there and we sometimes watched parades from his window. Just a block up the street is still the gazette building. Not the one of my childhood but a different incarnation. There was a Cigar store on Main that I was told had a passageway to the hotel. Someone said it was so if the police stopped by those playing cards in the back could duck out to the hotel. Have no idea if that's true. Also a sporting goods store and mens shop are part of my childhood memories. Firestone was there I recall where I bought model kits to build. I also recall the Beverly Theater and watching my first John Wayne double feature on Main. Penny's used to be across the street with its X-ray foot machine in the shoe department. A grocery store on the corner that my grandmother shopped at. A girl I liked in high school worked at a drug store on that side of the street. It's been a lot of years and changes since that time. "I still look back with wonder."
