On Vechinsky leaves school board

Goodbye, Dennis Vechinsky! You have become a rubber stamp for Dr. Evert and have betrayed your community and it's children. Since it's beginning, you have said you would always vote against 4 year old kindergarten and that you did not feel it was best for our little ones and our community. You continued those comments to many up to a week before the vote, then you showed up at the meeting and voted for it, surprising everyone, including board members. And you wonder why anyone would question integrity and wonder about devious goings on! Look in the mirror! I'm glad our current school board is doing it's job and not voting for every taxpayer funded program Dr. Evert brings up! Keep up the good work, especially Kevin Murray, Duane Severson, Bill Sodemann.

At least Bill Sodemann has the courage to address issues to those of us with questions. I challenge other school board members and the administrators earning the big bucks to get on here to respond.

Listening with the intent of doing what he wants anyway and listening with the intent of seriously considering someone else's very different opinion are two different things.

Bill Sodemann
Please respond to my earlier question about 4 year old kindergarten?

On Looking for a less painful plan

Why are Tom Evert and his cronies willing to take $488,000 (Gazette Wed Feb 13)from the reserve fund to pay for start up costs for the 4 year old preschool (his pet project) when they they insist the reserve fund must stay there for possible needs. I thought the start up costs were supposed to be paid for by the state which was why it was so important to start it now. I have heard that start up funding was cut because of the state budget crunch. Is that true and if so, why is Janesville starting a program to take $418,000 from the taxpayer's reserve fund?
