Are we going to get in trouble with the union for using volunteer workers to fill the sand bags?

On About those changes in school breakfasts

Posted on December 15 at 7:46 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

Maybe this all needs to looked at in a different perspective
1. Rules need to be followed, even though most of the food “is” grab and go you still need rules in place to keep it safe.
2. Storing and maintaining equipment can be cumbersome for the groups to handle.
3. Not needing to commit one area to just breakfast club ends up saving money because the kitchen staff can (for the most part) use breakfast club food items just the same as everyday lunch menu items.
With just these three items the entire burden to keep the food in order is taken care by a professional staff equipped to handle just this type of event on a daily basis.
Volunteer groups get the opportunity to take a whole different approach to the way they volunteer as a guest in the lunchroom area.
I have been a guest volunteer in many of the kitchens in the school district of Janesville and what I notice most is that the staff is always very approachable and the kitchen is clean and well organized. Never have I been turned away from the kitchen staff or been told that volunteers are not welcome here.

On How does RECAP benefit community?

Posted on October 20 at 8 a.m. ( Suggest removal )

For ten years now we have had the pleasure of working with hundreds of RECAP workers, and not once have we had a bad experience. If you want to see what it is all about, give a call and you will understand that this is a working program and not just anyone gets into the program. There is much more involved with the program than just getting out of jail to work in the community. We do not use RECAP workers because it is free (last year we spent over $2,000 on food and transportation) we do it because it gives these young fellows a chance to grow.

On Project will make changes on Highway 26 between Janesville and Milton

partarican1...A guy I work with lives on the edge of Rock and Jefferson County on a rode that was slated to be blocked off from the new interchange on hwy 26. He went to meetings and did his homework and the State followed the plan he had divised. After hearing different bits of it for the past year or two I came to appreciate that he got results by never backing down and never leading with emotion. If you send me an email I will give it to him and I am certain he would give you a call with information that may help you also. He is not an internet guy at all and am sure he will not be posting here.

noob...Thank You for the clarification. I stopped posting on here because it became so Political that I was literally throwing up in my mouth with many of the comments I read. Thank You again for keeping this a discussion and not a fight about I'm right and you are wrong. Very refreshing. Your points are well taken.

noob....I am a bit confused by your logic. Are you saying that kids can't excel or they can as long as they follow the status quo? These programs are doing exactly what you say they are not, they let the kids develope critical thinking by letting them control the end result. Kids are not joining up to take the easy way out they are joining up because they have the drive to look past the text books and apply what is not in the book.

On Engineering goes back to school

studs...After working as a mentor with the students in the robotics program recently, I came to appreciate the kid’s general knowledge of design and engineering not only from the mechanical side but also the electronic side of the build. Most of the students became involved with the group because they want to continue their education in engineering and electronics. We need to start somewhere with the students, and starting small at a young age gets them excited about the direction they want to take. These students worked nights and weekends and built something that placed very well in the regional competition. This program was sponsored entirely by businesses that know that if given the chance, kids will excel way beyond just being a tech or grunt, or sitting watching TV all day. We as mentors did nothing more than guide the students in the direction they wanted to take the program, it was the students that made the choice to make it work. This was my first year being a mentor in this program and I look forward to the kids coming up from the grade schools ready to take the next step in their understanding of STEM,(Science,Technology,Engineering and Math).

fear...you are giving me side cramps laughing at you. Here is some more lies I have come up with....we are going to get 1.5million recall signatures,oh I mean 1million signatures,oh I mean 700thousand signatures,oh wait looks like Walker will keep his position... er but we are going to get the rest of them. I wonder who the talking head is on this post? I stand behind my previous post even after you try to twist it into your own fanatical view point.
