Winzenz doesn't rhyme with sense. Pronounce the z like in zen.
.
FYI, Mr. Winzenz will be in Janesville for a long time. Big tie to the community.

For all those not part of the GOBC, here's how it works.
.
Routine: In the office by 8:20, 8:25, maybe 8:30, coffee and read the Wisconsin State Journal in the breakroom, a few meetings, 30-45 minute lunch, read the Janesville Gazette for 30 minutes, leave by 4 unless it's a golf day, then out the door by 3:30 or 3:45.
.
Duration: every day for 10+ years
.
Reward: interim city manager

Ah, the good old boys club continues. Short days, afternoons on the golf course. How sad.

If the rumor is correct, the current city manager will be available as a 'consultant' after his last day (Sept 5) at a pretty hefty fee. And, he'll also be on the payroll using vacation time through the end of the year. This sounds like double dipping to me. If it is true, I hope the Council sets guidelines on when Mr. Scheiffer may be contacted during the 'interim' period.

Marcia, you've piqued my interest with the compound issues in the first sentence. Will there be a subsequent article?
On Janesville City Council will consider new fire station in August

FS #1 is on Milton Ave close to downtown. I went to an open house there last year. It has lived its life and there is a need for a new FS, and in a better location. I am wondering though, what's going on with all the legacy projects for the City Manager. First it was aquatics, then a renewed downtown, focus on the 4th ward and lookwest, a parking ramp, major upgrades at the wastewater plant, now a fire station.

I got some cute canvas bags at Pier One several months ago (near the checkout counter) for about $2 each. They have a flat bottom, which is helpful for layering in some canned goods. Envirosax has some cute eco bags; you get six of them for about $35. The good thing is that they can be rolled up and stuffed in a small spaces. http://www.brightandbold.com/enreba.html...

Fabulous! I've been bringing my own canvas sacks into the grocery store for years. Until about 6 months ago, I got some rolled eyes, but now all the stores are selling their own version of the bags. When I was in Europe a few years ago, I quickly learned that stores charge you for bags, so it's always a good idea to have one handy in your purse or a few in the car.

What's wrong with Ms. Voskuil? I was impressed with her as the Plan Commission chair several years ago during the Walmart development and think she does a great job on the council.
