Wash outs
The folks at the Rock County Farm Service Agency crunched some numbers for me on Conservation Reserve Program practices in Rock County.
It's interesting stuff. We have more total acres in CRP than we did in 1998. But the kinds of practices have changed.
FSA Director Judy Schambow said recent heavy rains are going to wash out parts of fields, which will inspire farmers to call FSA wondering what they can do.
FSA has CRP contracts as small as a tenth of an acre, Schambow said.
I'll be working on a story about CRP and what's available in Rock County.
But feel free to tell me how things are going out in your fields this week.
You can call the FSA office at (608) 754-6617.
