Delicious name; stinky results

I've been complaining to anyone who will listen that the city hasn't done anything to get rid of the loads and loads of garlic mustard in city parks.

Last week I made the mistake of complaining to my oh-so-wise Aunt Suzi.

"The city probably doesn't have the money for it, Ann Marie," she said. "Maybe those of us who are worried about it need to take the initiative to fight the problem ourselves."

So, I think that's what I'll be doing Memorial Day ... killing garlic mustard in Lustig Park behind my house.

I know you can't just pull up garlic mustard and leave it, or the seeds will continue to mature. So I'll bag it up.

Here's a story reporter Cathy Idzerda wrote about the weed a few weeks ago.

If you see a sneezing girl stumbling around Lustig Park with garbage bags this weekend, feel free to join her in her battle against garlic mustard.

Happy Memorial Day!
