Social media, with a human touch
We’re taking a new approach to social media.
All of our Web sites use Facebook and Twitter to link users to our content. While we post items there regularly, a lot of the content we had been posting there is posted automatically.
We think our social network followers would like more of a human touch.
At Gazettextra, we’ve disabled the automatic updates from our Latest News feature on our Facebook page. Now, you can expect updates throughout the day highlighting some of the unique content Gazettextra has to offer.
On Twitter, you can still find the three accounts we have set up for the Latest News feature, our news stories and our sports stories. These will continue to be updated automatically, but we’re now using a fourth account, @gazettextra, which will feature the best from our daily content.
Updates to our Facebook fan page and Twitter (@gazettextra,) account are written and posted by Gazette employees. We will post stories, blogs, and other content we think you might find interesting.
If you've subscribed to our social networking feeds in the past, but blocked us because all the impersonal updates, unblock us and give us another try. (In Facebook, look at the bottom of your News Feed and click the link for "Edit Options".)
Courts and Crimes reporter Ted Sullivan is also using Twitter and Facebook. You can follow him at @RockCountyCrime on Twitter and on Facebook. He's always posting tidbits from his interesting beat.
WJVL.com’s social networking (Twitter and Facebook) is exclusively “human” driven. There’s no automation, and it’s been successful. It's a great way to interact with our audience.
At WCLO.com, we already add a few personal touches to our Twitter and Facebook feeds. Look for more of that in the future.

Sorry, just keep printing a paper, where someone, supposedly, takes the time to think rather than to spout instant nonsense.
