Hysterical History
I was researching the five-arch bridge in Tiffany, of all things, when I found out the Wisconsin Historical Society is hosting a Chris Farley exibit from now until November.
I absolutely want to go see it.
When I moved from Janesville to Madison in August 1997, I wrote down a list of goals for myself. One of them was to use my sketch pad more. (That quickly turned into a notebook.)
Another goal was to meet Chris. He is a Madison native and was known to hang in Madison bars on occasion before he died in December of 1997. He was 33.
The next year, Saturday Night Live came out with "The Best of Chris Farley." My roommates and I would watch it EVERY night before bed.
I've never been to the historical society, but this looks like the perfect reason to go check it out. Admission is only $4 for adults, $3 for kids and $10 for families.
Now, back to research on the stone brige, from which I have DE-railed!!!
(No, it's gotta be your bull....)

I ran into Chris Farley twice at Badger football games. Both times it was obvious he was wasted out of his mind. What a tragic waste of talent.

Did you also see a book was recently released on his life? The Chris Farley Show: A Biography in Three Acts was written by his brother and another author and gives an honest portrayal of his life. From what I've read, it appears to be a very sad, sick life. I loved the guy as a comedian, but he also was a poster child for the dangers of excess.

The State Historical Society Museum is on the Capital Square in Madison.
I also encourge everyone to visit the Veterans Museum while they are there. The exhibits there tell personal stories of Veterans from Wisconsin. What better way to pay tribute to our Miltary past and present this Memorial Holiday.

They have the Matt Foley suit on display.
"...in a VAN down by the RIVER!"
We should go. I'm going to write a story about it for the Gazette. Or we both could. Or something.
