Naked ladies?!? Where?

By ANN MARIE AMES ( Contact )   Wednesday, July 22, 2009 - 10:14 a.m.

The Naked Lady party: the idea is so good, it should have been mine.

Basically, it’s a dress-up party for grown ups. And you get free clothes.

If you haven’t been to a Naked Lady party, I would urge you to talk to your friends and organize one. I think it’s an event that’s easily suited to any group.

The basic plan is to gather up your Goodwill bag or bags and go to a friend’s. Bring snacks.

Spread the clothes and items around the house in piles. Organize them by size or like item, if you like.

Note !! Make sure to designate a “safe spot” for the purses and shoes that the Ladies brought and want to take home with them. You don’t want to loose your wallet or something in the chaos.

When everything’s set, start digging!

Some groups of friends might have a very polite, modest trying on of clothes. Others might be more into trying to outdo each other by the outlandishness of their outfits.

Either way, if it fits, and you like it, take it home. For free.

When you’re done, help the host clean up. The leftovers can be bagged up and dropped off at the resale store or charity of choice.

Everyone gets clean closets and a couple of “new,” free things to wear.

Win!

I have been invited to a Naked Lady party in a couple weeks. I am counting the days and piling up the clothes that don’t fit. The only bummer is I have to go to Madison for it.

I guess if I want to have a party like this with my Janesville friends, it will be up to me to host, since I’m the only one who’s been to one so far.

What about you? Have you been to a Naked Lady party? Any tips for hosts?

at my college, they always had a "give and take" box in the dorms...where you leave stuff you don't want, and if you see something that you do want, you can take it. at the end of the year, students filled these boxes so full that they spilled into the lounge. i remember having a "give and take party", where a bunch of my friends and i dressed up in random outfits and took pictures looking goofy. it was a blast!!

and beth, apparently lisa's going to do another clothes auction soon! :D

Cottonjoe- Lol. I know, it's not that far to go to Madison. But in the spirit of getting free clothes, the less you spend on gas, the better.

It doesn't sound like the kind of naked lady party I would enjoy. :-)

"The only bummer is I have to go to Madison for it."? All the way to Madison? Brutal. How will you manage?

Sounds like an excuse to drink. If piles of clothes turn you on, go to Dig-n-Save in Madison. They sell clothes by the pound. They weigh your shopping cart for the price.

I think that I may have been to a few, but I don't remember anything about old clothes.

I'm not sure anyone wants my old clothes because I wear them until they're not really acceptable to wear in public anymore. But I'll try to dig some stuff up.

The Wheelock women hold "clothes auctions" similar to this concept. Basically, we line up on someone's bed (usually Lisa's) and she holds up the clothes she doesn't want. Whoever wants em gets em.

This sounds a lot more exciting, though!

We definitely need to organize one among our friends here, Ann Marie. I'd be down. But I have to find clothes I want to get rid of first... That's the hard part.
