Strangers with candy
Seems like there hasn't been much for me to blog about lately, since I'm done turning thirty and abusing farm animals.
So, I said to myself, "Self, it would be nice to read some heart-warming comments on the gazettextra blogs." Sometimes, I want to forget about the economy, crime and car crashes and think about the positive things around here. For example, I used to be disappointed that my parents' dogs didn't play fetch. But, this weekend I learned that their lack of fetchiness really helps out if you want to play bocce ball in the yard.
At the Janesville City Council meeting Monday, the police officer there bought Janesville Gazette reporter Marcia Nelesen and myself some M&Ms. She said she saw us eating chocolate before and thought we'd like some. We both thanked her profusely and offered to share.
What sort of good things have been happening in your life recently?

I think I'm feeling sentimental, but to have some of my sons classmates actually "thank" me for being in their life -- that's cool

One time I ran out of gas in Chicago and a black man drove me to and from a gas station.

Well one day my mom brought over her dog so we could "babysit" her. She hadn't pooped yet that day. I was getting ready in the bathroom and heard her running around the house...(she does that when she has to go) and my 18-month-old son thought it was funny and was chasing her... the next thing I know he comes in the bathroom and I look at him and he goes, "Mama" and he has a whole handful of poop! He picked all of it up for me and brought it to me!! I screamed, "Oh my God!" and it scared him so he started to cry... but man that was a pretty interesting morning!!! At least he brought it to me and not sat there and played with it!!!

Being able to play sports like bocce ball with my family! A close second would be my little white snowball that seems to have never-ending energy.

First someone wrote something nice about me in a blog...and today is a beautiful day outside, finally. I was on the bike trail this afternoon and everyone I ran into was friendly. Its nice to go to a place where people are enjoying themselves and not so stressed out.

I used to get mad when my cat would throw up right where all foot traffic in the house passes, and on white carpet, too. Then I realized she was right by doing it where I would find it, instead of a dark corner somewhere. She also could have been trying to tell me she was sick. Either way, I know she's doing the right thing now, and she feels much better after the operation, too.

After someone's dog ran through my flower garden, I replaced the broken flowers with other blooms that I realize I like even better than the originals!

I love the title "Strangers with candy." Did you ever see the television show that starred Amy Sedaris and Stephen Colbert with the same name? As Jerri Blank would say, "It was Hilllaarriiooouuusssss."

That was really sweet of the officer!
I have had a few rather great things happen in my life lately....and this isn't to brag.
I had a gorgeous AQHA Buckskin Stud colt born April 20th, who is going to hopefully take us somewhere in the show world.
****
I finally bought myself a small, but useful horse trailer :D
****
I've started a garden, and it's actually growing!!!
****
And as "corny" as this sounds.....but I guess th best thing in life is that all of my family, close friends, etc, and I are in good health :D

I guess things are finally turning around over here....past my kidney stones last week (hoping to NEVER have them again), I'm getting back into showing horses, and despite the economy I can still walk through a grocery store and have people nod, smile, or say hi....
