A random act of kindness

By ANN MARIE AMES ( Contact )   Thursday, June 18, 2009 - 5:48 p.m.

I had a tender moment at the grocery store the other day.

I was looking for sales on cat food when a friendly, gray-haired lady handed me a coupon.

“You have critters?” she said. She handed me a coupon for cat treats.

“Here. Keep them happy. I don’t have pets, but I cut out the coupons and leave them on the shelf for people.”

What a selfless thing to do!

The thing that really got me was the man who waited patiently while she searched for the right spot to leave her coupons on the shelves. Then he pushed their cart along to the next spot while she searched to place another coupon on the shelf.

Also selfless.

It made my day.

Pass it on.
