Soaring over the water

By GINA DUWE ( Contact )   Monday, June 29, 2009 - 10:12 a.m.

When the weather’s warm, as it has been lately, everyone flocks to the water. For me, it’s up north on the lake.

And a big part of that is water sports. I love kneeboarding, tubing and waterskiing, or anything else you can drag me on behind a boat at 20+mph. Usually.

Ever since I went to ski shows when I was little, I wanted to be able to perform all the tricks on the water and make it look so easy. Alas, I’m still too scared to lose a ski, so I’ll stick to two, thank you. My fear probably comes from breaking and dislocating a toe the last time I tried to drop a ski. Yeah, leave it to me to do something like that.

But my first time out for the summer each year, I’m left super sore for a few days after. Such was the case a couple weekends ago when Stacy and her husband joined my boyfriend and I up north. I lift weights and work out regularly, but that first time every year my muscles are so sore from the new activity. Any pros out there have any suggestions?

You gotta love Stacy and Kyle’s faces on the tube though. It’s always fun creating a big wave pool to send tubers through. What’s your best water sports story?

Wow. The looks on Stacy and Kyle's faces are priceless.

I'm just glad you didn't drop the camera in the water — or your cell phone. :-)
