Love and pancakes in Turtle Township

By ANN MARIE AMES ( Contact )   Saturday, February 13, 2010 - 10:14 a.m.

I just realized that the Off the Clockers haven’t posted a Valentine blog!

What?!?

We’re supposed to be tapped in to all things social in Janesville. Besides, we’ve got two recently engaged ladies, two happily dating ladies and … Brad, who never blogs but is very handsome.

So … the always loaded question. Do you have plans for Valentine’s Day?

I’m taking my loved one on a romantic date at the annual Turtle Fire Department Pancake Feed this morning. It runs until 4 p.m. today (Saturday) at the Turtle Community Center, 6916 S. County Road J. From Janesville, just follow County J (Wright Road) south toward Shopiere until you smell whole-hog sausage.

I can’t think of a better way to spend special time with my main man than standing in line with a bunch of Rock County residents and eating pancakes elbow-to-elbow with strangers at folding tables.

Heaven!

And, seriously, the sausage is about the best you’re ever going to find. I look forward to it all year round.

Enjoy your Valentine’s Day. If you don’t have a date to dote on, dote on yourself!

Smoked meat is better than chocolates and day!
