How do you solve a problem like Maria?
This has been a hectic week in my household.
I've been covering the Koepp trial, participated in the homeless count, adopted a dog, aaaaaand I'm trying to come up with a costume for the upcoming Sound of Music Sing-a-long.
The audience is encouraged to dress up for the interactive event, and that's what has me stumped.
I've heard there will be plenty of nuns there. People will also probably dress up in clothes made from drapes. When you look at pictures from other events, there are clever outfits from the lyrics of "My Favorite Things" and one group dressed as the marionettes from "The Lonely Goatherd".
I might dress in a team costume with my sister and mom. But my ideas are (shockingly) a bit more wacky than theirs, so I might be vetoed.
My fall-back is being a "silver-white winter that melts into spring". Perhaps I will listen to my Sound of Music record repeatedly this weekend. I mean, I know I'm not sixteen going on seventeen, but it could help me climb every mountain of costume indecision.

Get a white body stocking and a can of white spray flocking and go as Edelweiss!
Edelweiss, Edelweiss,
Every morning you greet me,
Small and White,
Clean and bright
You look happy to meet me..
Blossoms of snow may you bloom and grow,
Bloom and grow forever
Edelweiss Edelweiss
Bless my home land forever

New favorite idea:
Go as Liesl and wear a sign that says, "Dear Rolf, If you liked it then you shoulda put a ring on it".

You could go as.....a needle sewing thread, a tea cup or teapot to go with jam and bread, a bright yellow ray of sunshine, a map for a long way to run......or a xylophone with Do, Ray, Me, Fa, So, La, Tee, Do on it for the whole song.....hehehe.

Oh my gosh that sounds so fun. Maybe I should make the drive back to Janesville for that...
You could go as "me, a name I call myself." That costume couldn't be hard.
