Shop around the corner
Some bookstores you go to looking for specific books.
Milwaukee Street Used Books is not one of those stores.
My colleague, Marcia Nelesen, wrote a great story about this used bookstore in April. But what kind of book blogger would I be if I didn't write about a bookstore around the corner from my home?
I've been in the bookstore at 218 W. Milwaukee St. a couple of times, but I want to go back a whole lot more. It's a place to linger in, exploring each section. I went in Saturday to see if it had a Julia Alvarez book I was looking for (it didn't), and came out with a funny little book called "Pride, Prejudice and Jasmin Fields." It was $2.50.
My husband picked up a hardcover Stephen King book for $6. Then we got a 20 percent discount for buying from the store instead of online. And then the owner took off another 10 percent because Kyle will be a student in the fall. Can't beat that!
Plus, the first time I was there, the owners offered me a cup of tea. Try finding owners like that at Barnes & Noble.
The store is open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday.

Stacy or anyone...do they buy used books also?
Or trade?
