Plant colors and free stuff
The Old Farmer’s Almanac 2010 edition arrived in the newsroom this week.
Along with weather information—which I’ll get to in a future blog post—the Almanac also lists “Tastes & Trends” for the upcoming year.
According to the Almanac, “People Are Talking About”:
-Artwork depicting homeowners’ own DNA. -A combined washer and dryer appliance. -Disposable oven- and freezer-safe dishes made from palm leaves. -Food-related colors: egg plant purples, artichoke greens and pomegranate reds.
First of all, I don’t know anybody who is talking about DNA artwork or combined washer-dryers.
As for food-related colors, I wonder if they considered late blight black, zillions of zucchini’s green or crushed Japanese beetle brown.
Head's up! The Rotary Botanical Gardens plant sale is going on from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Sunday. Entry to the garden is also free all this week, so take a tour and then do some shopping.
All sales help Rotary's budget.

So...is this a return of Harvest Gold and Avocado Green?
