Road construction on schedule

Drivers will be happy to hear the downtown road construction is on schedule.

City officials I talked to today said things are on track with the state's portion of the Madison Street project. Concrete should be poured starting Wednesday, and plans are to have the Madison/Main intersection completely open by Aug. 1.

When I left a meeting tonight, workers were still working on the intersection around 7 p.m.

The whole project should be done by mid-August.
