Another stop sign on Main Street?

By GINA DUWE ( Contact )   Monday, May 3, 2010 - 5:13 p.m.

I'm just scanning through meeting agendas, including Wednesday's public safety commitee meeting.

The agenda includes "Discussion and possible motion in regard to placing stop signs at the corner of West Main Street and First Street."

For those traveling through that area often, what would you think of a stop sign at that location? Do you think it's needed?

I recommend the traffic circle be built (with brick of course). A set of amber flashing warning lights would need to be installed, but since Evill is a "green" community, a pinwheel should be planted in the center of the circle.

The pinwheel would not only create the power to run the lights, but also serve as the mounting pole to hang them from.

The Histeric District could even buy this pinwheel and have it "antiqued" so it fits the neighborhood decor.

IF this were acted on NOW....it could be installed before W Main has its "stimulus" work done.

How about a traffic circle? Would only have to tear down 4 historic buildings........ Kidding aside, I think it is a good idea, people go too fast on the bricks on W Main, and that corner is tough some times of the day.

I was hoping they'd get a horse xing sign. My nieces ride by there once in a while.
