Thankful Thursday - officially!
Family, friends, food clothing shelter ... but beyond all that, opportunity. I'm thankful for the opportunities I've been given.
Especially today my gratitude is around job/career opportunities and education opportunities.
As I watch my children go deeper into debt for their college degrees and realize that they'll probably have a tough time finding a job in a year, I am still happy that they both - a boy and a girl - have that opportunity.
While I think about my opportunities, I think about those who don't have them. Especially women in other parts of the world.
So while I'm giving thanks today, I'm also thinking of justice in the world, and in our country....social justice.
I'll eat too much and move too little and maybe even drink more than I should, but I'll give at least a fleeting thought to those who are walking to the well for water, and those who walk miles for medical care.
And I'll be thankful.

My spouse is a two-time cancer survivor. Married nearly 40 years and going strong. Cannot imagine life without my Best Friend by my side. Very, very Thankful for the hope of much more time together!

Thankful, too, for the fine Medical staff and facilities at Dean Riverview and St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison. Those M.D.s who made the diagnosis, planned the sequence of treatments and executed those plans. Those “Angels in Lab Coats”, along with their receptionists and support staff treated us like Friends, not just another case file. Very thankful, indeed.
