A run for my money
I shared with you before that I paid and joined a running group. I needed to have the accountability.
I found that life got in the way of most of the group runs, but I still DID them, just on my own. Accountability works for me.
My last group run is tonight and on Saturday I'll attempt my first 5K - the Jingle Bell Run for Arthritis. It appears the weather will be terrible, but my spirits will be high.
I'll be running with my "class" mates and my co-workers who decided to do the run as well. There will be no top 10 finishes, I'm just looking forward to a finish - and if I end up running more than walking - it's a victory for me.
The added bonus, I don't get winded climbing a flight of stairs anymore!
Are you keeping fit? Has the weather cramped your style? Will I see you on Saturday Morning???
Becky Weber-Johnson lives in Janesville with her husband, Tim, and without their children who are away at college. She is an account executive at WCLO/WJVL and is the Saturday morning host on WCLO. She volunteers at her church, with the Optimist club and SpotLight On Kids. Becky is a community blogger and her opinion is not necessarily that of the The Gazette staff or management.

Good luck with the 5k! Every year a friend of mine tries to get me to do the "Turkey Trot" (the local pre-Thanksgivign 5k) and every year I refuse. So more power to you!

I am so envious of those of you who can run outdoors. I'm strictly a treadmill girl due to medical issues. I think the key is to find exercises that you enjoy & mix it up - keep it fresh - because if it's not fun you won't stick with it and that's 99% of the battle. Congrats to you on your success tgallo1955 & good luck to you Becky!

Becky: I took up running (alone) last Spring and lost 30 lbs., lowered my cholesterol and blood sugar as well as my blood pressure. I won't be there Saturday but wish you continued success. Have a great run for a great cause!

The nice thing about this run is you can take your pooch along. Run like they're chasing you Weber-Johnson!
