Just get moving....
Yesterday I tested God. I said "God, IF you want me to run tonight - it won't be raining". God wanted me to run.
So, week 2 of my training for a 5k is here and I'm doing o.k. It is amazing how quickly your body can adjust to starting to exercise. I am amazed that in 10 days I can now run 2 minutes at a time. (run 2 walk 2 x 4 this week) I thought one minute was going to kill me last week!
All of this is about getting healthier and I have had no aches and pains. Last week I had sore quads going up the stairs, but it is 3 flights!
So, as the weather gets less pleasant, I'm sure it will become more difficult to make myself move.
Are you getting some exercise? Do you have any "not so nice" weather advice for me?

Cold weather advice, keep the extremities warm:
- Mittens, not gloves
- Warm socks
- Fleece headband
Also:
- Light layers, more layers when necessary
Keep at it!

"People that run all the time have a mental disorder"..<--words from a doctor. Also backed by the opening sentence about god, i'd say the poster of this blog has some serious psychiatric issues.

Nicksmom - They key to staying in shape is WHAT YOU EAT. I also laugh at the people at the gym. They think a million squats and situps gives you defined abs... nope. Defined abs are make in the kitchen, not the gym.

If you want results & want to change your body don't do the same thing. I always chuckle at the people at my gym who run and run and run and always look the same. The key is to do heavy weights & cardio & no - women do not bulk up from heavy lifting. Also your cardio should not be slow & steady - change it up - run with an incline for a few minutes, then sprint, then lunge etc.. Steady pace is a big no no. Okay that will be $5000 for my advice. Lol. Seriously, if results are what you're looking for this is what my personal trainers have taught.

I think it was last December when I was out running in the early morning rain, that I realized I had become "one of THOSE people," who rarely misses a run because of the weather.

Keep up the good work, Becky! After about 3 weeks of regularly working out you will begin to look forward to it and even be disappointed when something keeps you from it. Make it a priority, be flexible and creative in overcoming obstacles to working out and notice how much better you feel.

I exercise on average 300 or more minutes each week. I try to keep it varied, but I do weights, elliptical, spinning, swimming, and Zumba the most.
