Kids Take advantage of "Free Fishing" Weekend
I had the chance to work with some great kids over the free fishing weekend on Saturday June 2nd.
I started my day in Delavan working with the local Cub Scout Troop on tying knots, fishing regulations and going over casting and fishing a Texas-Rigged worm.
After working with the scouts, I traveled to Belvidere, IL to help out the Coon Creek Casters Fishing Club hosting their annual "Hooked on Fishing" Kids Day.
The Coon Creek Casters have been hosting the "Hooked on Fishing" event for more than 20 years.
Coon Creek Caster president, Tom Bonacorsi founded the event starting out with a few kids back in the beginning to well over 200 hundred kids to date.
With the help of sponsors such as Wal-Mart, Plano and Zebco each child that attended the event took home a prize.
Thank you to all who take time to "Take a Kid Fishing" and to all who volunteered over the free fishing weekend introducing kids to the sport of fishing.
