Did you get your flu shot?
The last time I received a flu shot I got the flu. Since then, I've steered away from the shot and have dodged the flu bug to boot. This year I kept my tradition of avoiding the flu shot but the ugly bug hit me harder than a Mack truck this week.
A few weeks ago a co-worker was looking feverish and he admitted that he wasn't feeling great. He was a bit disappointed because he was one of the millions who received a flu shot this year. A day later, he was feeling fine. The shot must have helped.
I'm the first to raise my hand and agree that I don't handle being sick very well. A friend mentioned that there isn't one man that does...that's why God created women. Fair enough. :-)
This week has been a fog. Temperature spikes, coughing, wheezing and overall just feeling horrible. I don't remember feeling this poor since I was a teenager. I think it's time to rethink the whole flu shot thing. While it's not a guarantee that I won't get sick, it will mitigate the risk.
I know I'm not alone with this current 'bug' wave. I know more people who have been shut down with this than I can count. At least my fever finally broke last night. I hope it's for good this time.
Have you avoided the current wave of illness going around? Did you get your flu shot?

You can lead a horse to water,
but you can't make him drink.

I get my flu shot almost every year, since I have been in an "at risk" group for 15 years. I missed the shot one year and was out sick for 6 weeks. I can't afford to do that. When I get the shot, I'm fine. Got mine later than usual this year, felt great, and even avoided the "plague" everyone around me has had (Knocking on wood!).

I hear you Steve! I steer away from cherry Kool-aid because mom used to feed it to me when I was sick. I hate ginger ale for the same reason. 7-Up too. So ya, if you just so happen to have gotten sick that one time you should continue to stay clear of the flu shot so you can make more room on this Earth for those that did get it.
Thanks Steve for making this a potentially less congested world!

Haven't ever, and won't. I rarely get sick, and I believe that introducing things like that to my body only reduces my natural immune system. And you know the drug companies know that and are riding it all the way to a cayman island bank.

I never get a flu shot and I never get the flu. I'm healthy, work out regularly, and eat healthy most of the time.

I think Greg did this already. I am not allowed due to medications.
When you got your flu shot it only covers certain flues. You got a different flu. I had the flu(lung one) once it was terrible. Took about 4 months to get back on my feet. I would finally go to work and could only do 1/2 day. I went to Dr and was quarnteened. Thought I would cough up a lung.
Hubby has been sick twice lately and somehow have avoided getting whatever he picked up. Very lucky since I am more prone to catching stuff with the meds I take. I feel crappy enough without any bugs to go along with what it bothering me.

Got the flu shot in Oct, had a slight reaction (normal) and have felt fine ever since. Rather take the preventive action then not and later wish I had.

I got a flu shot once and that's the year I got the flu. I have to admit, I'm a little apprehensive this year because I've heard this year's bug is a bad one but I really believe I have a super immune system because I never get sick. Can't remember the last time I even had a cold. Now migraines, different story. :-(

This year I happen to fall into those "at risk" groups that has to get the flu shot. In the past sometimes I've gotten it, and sometimes I haven't. I can't remember the last time I had the flu. Maybe as a kid. But being pregnant my doctor didn't want me to take the chance, and like IndyColtFan said, insurance pays for it so why not? I got the vaccine the first week it was available at Walgreens. I'm glad I did because this flu season has his hard and earlier than usual. It's not a guarantee, but I agree that anything I can do to mitigate the possibility is probably a good idea.

Haven`t had the flu in over 25 yrs. I did get a flu shot for the 3rd yr in a row though, just in case. Insurance pays for it so why not?

Haven't had the flu in years. I must also point out that I head South when it gets cold. I avoid crowds, keep my hands away from my face and wash my hands vigorously several times a day during the winter. Works for me. As you get older Steve, you'll find that some things are worth preparing for if you want to stay healthy.
