Full size sport-utility vehicles coming out of General Motors’ Janesville assembly plant are no strangers to the awards platform.

At the Chicago Auto Show, MotorWeek, a television automotive magazine series, named the Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon as the winner—for the second consecutive year—of its Drivers’ Choice Award in the Best Large Utility category.

John Davis, MotorWeek’s host and executive producer, said that GM proved that bigger can also be better, as the new hybrid versions of Tahoe and Yukon won the award in the Best Eco-Friendly category.

It’s the first time in MotorWeek history that a large utility won in both categories.

“GM should be commended for putting hybrid systems where they belong, in the biggest vehicles that use the most fuel,” said Davis. “GM’s two-mode hybrid system improves fuel economy by up to 30 percent without compromising performance or utility.”
