"Public Enemies" wraps up Wisconsin work
OSHKOSH, Wis. (AP) — Downtown Oshkosh is reverting to the present after going back to the 1930s for filming the movie “Public Enemies.”
The final filming Friday included scenes in buildings representing banks in Sioux Falls, S.D., and Racine that were targets of Depression Era robber John Dillinger.
It’s all part of the movie that stars Johnny Depp as Dillinger, whose crime spree ended when he was shot to death in Chicago by FBI agents in 1935.
Spectators heard lots of sound effects of gunfire, including the rapid blasts of a machine gun, and had to struggle to keep up as the crew moved from set to set in the downtown area.
Part of the filming was near the Masonic Temple used to represent the American Bank and Trust Co. in Racine, which was robbed by Dillinger Nov. 20, 1933.
By the time filming ended, a crowd had started to gather along the barricades for a last chance to see Depp.
There were thousands of people there by about 8 p.m. when Depp came out to meet the crowd.

Hopefully it is done soon. I think it is a big deal about nothing.

They'll be filming in Madison on May 7th and 8th. I know because I'm going to be an extra.
