City council denies Mirbeau-Hummel, issues liquor licenses
LAKE GENEVA--The city council unanimously denied the rezone and general development plan for the proposed Mirbeau-Hummel development.
Alderman Gary Dunham said the Mirbeau-Hummel plans doesn't align with the city's master plan or south neighborhood plan. There was no further discussion.
But that's probably not the last the city will hear of Mirbeau-Hummel. The developers filed April 7 a notice of injury against the city, saying putting the issue to referendum violated their rights.
To bring legal action against the city, however, Mirbeau-Hummel has to file a notice of claim. The city can then deny the claim, at which point, the developers would have six months to file a lawsuit.
In other business, the city council approved the issue of two full Class B liquor licenses, one each to Medusa Grill & Bistro and Golden Oaks Mansion. There were five applicants for the available licenses formerly held by Hillmoor Golf Course and Applebee's.

What it shows is that one party, in this case Mirbeau-Hummel, believes their rights have been violated and will utilize the legal system to seek justice. Maybe they will win and maybe not. Too bad 'Mopsy' doesn't think much of the law and our system of justice.

Well, Mirbeau-Hummel is certainly showing their true colors here by taking the first step toward suing Lake Geneva. I hope this just shows the city council that they were right in not wanting this company developing the land. Mirbeau-Hummel is no friend of Lake Geneva.
