JANESVILLE -- The person found hanging from a tree in Oak Hill Cemetery this morning died in a manner consistent with suicide, Rock County Coroner Jenifer Keach said. The body was that of a 37-year-old Janesville man, Keach said. No foul play is suspected, Keach said, but her office and Janesville police continue to investigate.

As a friend of the family I wanted to thank those of you that offered your kind words and show of support. This is a very difficult time for all who love him.

peacegirl...I've been trying to convince myself that you are not really serious, but I haven't been able to do so.

Why don't they cut the tree down then? That might be a good idea.

Also to add a little more info, back in Feb. when my g-pa and his friends were on their walk they ran into the cops at the same site because they (cops) had found a rope hanging from the tree - the same type of rope and they say it was knotted in the same way the man used to commit suicide - they suspect the man tried killing himself, but wasn't successful... it's not like the cops didn't do anything about it, they had dogs out to see if they could find any clues back in Feb but didn't...

I just want to comment about this story... Obviously it is really sad and I want my blessings to go out to his family and friends also. The man was found by my grandpa and his 2 friends, they go on a 3 mile walk every morning and the cemetary is part of their route. I noticed a couple commented, saying they are also sorry for those who found the man... I just want to say thanks for my grandpa (who doesn't have the internet), he was pretty destraught and scared about the situation but he is doing fine. He hasn't gotten any other information about the suicide like the name of the victim either.

Why do some of you look for controversy in everything. There are trees at the golf course, Riverside park, the terrace, yards....drop the talk of patrols and security. This poor guy was going to do it somewhere, stop looking for blame. I feel bad for him, his family and like kelly pointed out, the person that found him.

If you have never been held captive in the darkness of Depression consider yourself fortunate. Unfortunately, for some people it is not a choice. Depression is a chemical imbalance in the brain when left unsucessfully treated can result in trajedy. My guess is this man gave couldn't take any more pain, it was out of his control-he just didn't want to hurt anymore and he mistakenly thought this was his only option. It wasn't his fault or anyone elses-he had a disease that spiraled out of control before he could seek the proper treatment-it was a chemical imbalance not the events in his life that caused this. For the family: God is with him-he is okay now.

regardless of whether someone was on the property or not, this man was obviously distraught and felt hopeless. This is not the fault of the cemetery or the police for not "doing rounds".

They don't live on the grounds anymore the house was torn down. I agree that someone needs to do rounds up there. Things get stolen off the graves all the time!

That's just what Janesville needs, a security guard for dead people or shall we say soon to be dead people.

I'm so sorry for your loss, maybe this could have been prevented had someone been living on the grounds and doing their daily and nightly security checks.

This is sad. Is there anything in life that can be that bad to take your own life? Prayers are with the family. I just wished they had a name listed so I would know who it was.
